Bought a tin of biscuits this morning which contains 'Romany Creams'. Presumably they are the PC version of Gypsy Creams

No, it's not been sudden, they have been a race for rather a long time. It is not a lot different to describing an Indian person as a 'paki'. Not only is it incorrect, it is using an offensive term that is used to discriminate a group of people based on their race. You misunderstand my point. Factually speaking, travellers are not a 'race' but in fact a social grouping and as a result any discrimination cannot be labelled as 'racism'. I hope you feel more enlightened and can now refrain from using the word 'racism' in an incorrect context. I I will take your silence as a enlightenment.

Although Traveller/Gypsies despise the term "Pikey" it comes from "People of the Turnpike". (old term for roads) Maybe rather than try to differentiate between travellers and Romanies, better to describe them all as Pikeys....
