Actions like that should result in a 33 game ban - the sort of challenge witnessed on a park pitch on a sunday morning when somebody bears a grudge against an opponent, absolutely awful and no room for behaviour like that in professional football.

3 games Typical anti-United bias. UEFA must be hand in glove with the FA

Difficult one for the manager to deal with.
On the face of it leaving Rooney out of the squad would be a very bold move, but if England play well and get out of the group bringing Rooney straight back in the team might dent moral
If Morgan got a three game ban for us for something similar, but the team went on to win those three games would Turner put Morgan straight back in the side.

I assume he would still be expected to train with the England team group of individuals in the lead-up to them though?

whats the point in discussing it now ? well you can discuss it but you can't really make a decision it all depends on who is in form and who is available when the time comes to select the squad if rooney is still in the form he's been in so far this season of course he'll make the squad might even work in our favour to have him fresh for the knockout stages as opposed to the world cup flop

Don't think knock-out stages are a realistic chance with this England team

I mean we also need to see who is fit and available to travel (fingers crossed everyone will be fit and ready to go but you never know). But still, still good to discuss...

Lets face it Rooney is just a thug and some of those in football seemed blinkered to the fact. In the real world he would be sacked for what he did. Personaly I feel he should never be picked for England again. I would rather we never won anything again than have so called players like Rooney in the team trying to be a role model for youngsters.

Rather than start another Pilch-provoking thread, just thought I'd add here it was amusing to see an unnamed premiership footballer putting his libel generating equipment ahead of stopping a goal from a free kick yesterday

No doubting that Rooney is a good player but its been more for United rather than England. Should really be able to cope with the absence of one player, just hope that when the tournament gets underway providing we get through the group and if he is bought on, the same doesnt happen.

Joe Hart sadly let himself down there - then again he is mates with Wayne Rooney and holidays with him.
Now, there are those out there that continually defend players when they do simiar - "he plays on the edge" etc.
Rubbish - to bend the rules for one will open the floodgates for all. Lets forget about the man and just concentarte on the offence for this case and all others.
Horrible human being, poor role model.

It makes me laugh the amount of people who believe this will seriously affect our chances of winning the competition, like we had one in the first place
The England players must be loving Rooney doing what he did because now there will be nowhere near as much hype and expectation, and when they lose they can come home plucky losers once again, rather than the expensive flops they are now labelled. Plus of course Mr Rooney will become the scapegoat for the summer and the reason why English football fails again

No doubting that Rooney is a good player but its been more for United rather than England. That's a given. He trains each and every day with his club side. He plays each and every week with his club side. Compare that with the time spent with the international side. It goes without saying (for me anyhows) that his best performances are going to be with his club side. That goes for any player, not just Rooney.
