nothing to do with his age. look at goldson, he appears more experienced than grandison and doesnt tend to haul a player down in the box every few games. although its his first mistake for a few games, the amount of penalties he gives away is bordering on the embarassing. 3? 2 if you discount the Walsall one which was a bad decision.

Don't seem to be able to come to terms with Southend's very direct style. We knew what we were in for before the game however....

Seems like Goldson is playing centre back, why? I thought the only change would be SCS in, and Goldson continuing at right back, with Grandison at centre back as per the last few games since Vale. If not, why the change?

We could fall to 7th tomorrow. Can only be three points adrift from top at most. Much better start to the 2nd half by Town. Think Goldson is playing RB. He's starting to support Lionel more down the right flank.

couple of changes. Disappointed not to see Taylor on, think his pace could be very useful this late on.

Ah well..3 points next week against Barnet and everyone will cheer up!
This was always going to be a difficult one..still feel we need to sign another defender on loan though..preferably a right back.

Won't win you many popularity points, but I think your comments on Grandison are pretty close to the mark.

Basic keeping error. Punched a cross which was head high and easily catchable. Ball only travelled a couple of yards before hitting someone on the back and trickling in. I am always moaning about him punching balls that he should catch. Unfortunately Neal is no better.

I am always moaning about him punching balls that he should catch. Unfortunately Neal is no better. I'm beginning to question the coaching of the keepers - why this season is there seemingly the desire to flat fist everything away, it's not even punching. I've watched pre match warm ups and see Smith flat fisting balls away instead of claiming catches and it's not good, too many times this season have I seen crosses and shots that have been relatively easy catches turned into poor clearances through a fist/punch away - goalkeeper error or coaching problem?

Not happy with this. A lot of work to be done, and possibly GT should have a think about dropping Smith.

he really is a liability. needs to get it sorted. He is 20! Based on your criteria (and profile) you have 3 years to perfect your chosen career! Hopefully the young team we have will develop together and learn from their mistakes* – he has made less than 30 full appearances in his whole career, would you rather he stays in the reserves gets played in the odd game until he is 30 – would you rather have a Guy Branston or Adam (My Career is going down hill) Vergo in the team? Your posts remind me of a young Dr Crippen all no patience and demand for perfection! We are Shrewsbury we are not Real Madrid but we will be one day * I said this under GP as well

Not happy with this. A lot of work to be done, and possibly GT should have a think about dropping Smith. Nothing like a knee jerk. Not sure that there is a lot of work to be done. Poor performance tonight but we've seen more than enough this season to suggest that we'll be firmly challenging again. Smith may have been at fault for the 2nd goal but do we swap keepers each time someone makes an error? Just a few weeks a go he was being hailed as being one of the best young keepers in the league. Hate fickle fans.

Lets hope that we carry on responding in the same way that we did after your last motivational comment Aug 16, 2011, 9:17pm, Sean McAllister's Right Foot wrote:It's going to be a bleak season. I am counting the minutes down to my next game with great excitement, i am sure you are as well - so why are you so critical on the team when they have so far proved you own statement as being so so wrong?
