That picture of Picard has got me chuckling away here. Good to see they still have a sense of humour about it all...

Elder joining Hereford would be the icing on the cake for me, at least they would have enough carrots for him to chase in those 'eear parts' Elder was a really nice chap, cracking bloke - Yes, League Two footballer - Definate No

Despite having a league 2 winners medal with Brentford? We are living in the present in case you hadn't noticed, since his unfortunate injury he has never been the same player and will never be good enough for league football in my opinion, I could be wrong but i will show my arse in Harrod's window if i am **Note to Page58**

Elder had trials at Cheltenham and Luton prior to joining Hayes and both clubs said no. As far as I can see he's not even a regular for Hayes so it must be like Xmas for him if Hereford have expressed an interest in him.
Hereford must be desperate.

Don't bloody start me.
No goals for H+Y I note.
See the No 9 he replaced has captained a Premiership side. Give me strength.
Would not wish this even on Hereford.

"But Bashir says that he is still looking to trim his squad in order to bring in players that are good enough for Blue Square Premier level."
£90K for 3 good minutes away at Barnet.

Met Nathan a couple of times and he is a really nice lad. Really hope he can get a club and start playing regularly.
Fault for him not working out at Town clearly sits with Simpson who clearly did no back ground work to check if the serious head injury Elder suffered at Brentford had affected him - which it clearly did. Scary to think he thought Bright would be a league 2 striker too.
Elder has had no luck with injuries as after the head injury he then gets a second very serious leg injury. Hopefully he will get a club and be able to make a living from the game, as I think at Brentford pre injury he was quite well thought of as a player

A big Hayes fan owns the shop in Myddle and he's seen Elder play a few times and states he is useless in the air and thats why he got released.

I really don't get the Elder-bashing.
No it didn't work out for him here, mainly due to the two serious injuries - one before he arrived one when he got here. Was he good enough for L2 - well clearly a title winning Brentford thought so. Is he still good enough for L2 - probably not... who knows, but I wish him all the best anyway (except against us of course).

The 90k figure is often banded around but Ive heard off a number of people that it was less than half that. Yes you can argue that, that was too much but it wasnt Elders fault. Has to go down as a massive disaster for Simmo, firstly signing him and then giving him a 3 year contract. Dont hold any bad feelings towards him but quite clearly wasnt up to the task

We all know you did not rate Elder and have some very strong opinions on him, fair enough.
But that post is effectively slander! Would love to know how you would feel if somebody analysed your professional abilities like that!

PS continually covering his 'give him chance ' - 'nice bloke' stuff' ... ? ... high and mighty and in retrospect still not ready to back down ... can't see player when he sees one...? or slander against Simmo.. or slander against the board and the 'suits' ..? or slander against all the posters on here who thought he was a good signing (hang your heads boys! :0( ) .. or slander against 'nice bloke' NE ... doesn't need me to tell him is a charlatan ... managers, players and fans are doing that for him, all his trial clubs etc. Isthmian League ... or we are short for the works five a side at the moment ... Take your pick El Mundo ... should I delete do you think? A great 3 minutes away at Barnet ... at least I was there to also see Simmo Jnr nearly cost s a draw ... then on to D +R ... lordy, lordy ... I constantly analyse my own professional abilities, it was what being a professional is all about, sadly some do not. Taht summer period f'ed up your season's entertainment - remember?

Which would u prefer peterbroaadbent? A Carlos Tevez type figure who had all the potential but was a disruptive w anchor or someone who everytime he put on the B + A shirt tried his best for the club. Granted he wasn't the best player we have ever made but i don't think we can knock his work ethic or drive to do better for himself?

COYBS Firsly, can you please give me a link to this £90,000 fee on the Shrewsbury website? Ive just done a quick google and his wikipedia entry says he signed for an undisclosed fee and the following page give no mention of a fee www.shrewsburytown.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10443~1742609,00.html Secondly, I never said he was a good player and even if I did, I wouldnt have to justify my views to you. What I did say (and repeatedly said) is that your attacks on Elder were boring, repetitive and down right vindictive. And it clearly shows no sign of letting up. I said give the bloke a chance, clearly he's not good enough and you were right, well f****g done, do you want a medal? As for hanging my head in shame for supporting a player and not going round slating the bloke, well clearly me you and were brought up differently. If it was a player who was sitting here milking the club for all the money they could and not putting the effort in then Id be joining you in the condemnation but our definitions of milking are very different. He was signed by Paul Simpson and given a 3 year contract, he got injured, worked hard to get back but it was clear he wasnt up to the task and then left. I dont see any milking by the bloke, he has done very well out of us but that is down to Paul Simpson and not Nathan Elder. You seem to have it in your head that he should quit football and not take any more money because of his lack of ability, if you think thats how the world works then Id suggest you grow forking up.

May be supporting whoever is top of the premiership may work better for you where you won't have to get quite so stressed about players not being all that good...

Also on the Town website if you can be bothered to find it.

COYBS You cannot knock some for trying their best, no matter what their ability. Yes Elder showed bad ball control or lost alot of battles in the air with centre halves etc, but he always gave his best, as a supporter, thats what I ask for first. Yes it now seems he is not quite good enough for this league at the moment, maybe if he gets regular games and good coaching somewhere, he may return stronger and better. The way you constructed that post made it patronising to read, and the facts you gave were incorrect. Fair enough have your say, but the guy would be crushed if he read that! And, I'm sure he knows hes not good enough for the football League at the moment either and is trying to improve himself.

I doubt Elder or anyone else would be crushed by PB's comments, given the background of his longstanding, inexplicable anger and obsession with Nathan Elder's shortcomings. Not sure why the need to extend the rant so widely though.
Still, quite nice to see another anti-Elder tirade, for old times' sake. And the X Factor-style involvement of his family is a new departure.

Nice to see that 'PeterBroadbent' has mellowed in his views. what an unbelievable 'supporter'
did elder run over your cat or something? I don't think i've ever read anyone with such a hatred for a player before just because he wasn't very good. It's not like he disrespected the club (Tevez, Campbell), not like he regularly scored against us since leaving, not like he crippled one of our players, he just was signed and given a long contract by a very poor manager and ultimately released by a good manager.
It's especially shocking as i assumed that such disgusting bial would have come from a mouthy uneducated 'i want it now' teenager but ironically your user name and profile is of a footballer from the 1950s and 1960s, a time when football was a lot more sporting and didn't have the hostility of the current game.
