I was thinking earlier, with all this hype surrounding the Arsenal game on tuesday and the seemingly lack of build up to the Vale game.. If you could only win one of these games which one would u rather win, Vale away, big three points against our rivals or a great cup upset away at Arsenal?
For me i would 100% rather the three points against Vale.
Intrested what other peoples views are..

Win at Vale and draw at Arsenal - winning on pens.

Would rather win at Vale.
However, if I had to choose attending one or the other, which thankfully I don't, I would choose Arsenal every day of the week.

Absolutely no question. Vale.
Arsenal will be a great day out for those who go, but it's not anywhere near as important as the league.
Promotion is the only aim this season.

To be honest have to say a win at Arsenal .........
Think about it. in years to come which would you remember with most affection, the day we beat PV at theirs or the day we beat Arsenal

Also we'd be in the 3rd round, have all the media attention and possibly sack Arsene Wenger.

No contest - a win at Arsenal would be a historic achievement, even against reserves, and enjoyed long after the Vale game was forgotten. It would also put us in the 4th round and with the chance of another fantastic draw.
Not winning at Vale would still leave plenty of time to catch up so, even if we missed promotion by 2 points, it wouldn't just be down to that one game.

Actually shocked at how many of you would rather win at Arsenal.
3 league points over a cup win any time for me, regardless of the opposition!

If that happens then it wont just be down to not beating Vale. Arsenal definately if I had to choose, would get quite a lot of media attention and be one of those nights that are long remembered by those there. Its about time we did actually beat Port Vale though.

A win against Arsenal could generate massive amounts of extra revenue
Lots of media coverage of the highlights which generates funds, lots of build up and interviews with all, with generates funds, another match in the cup which would generate funds, and there would be an increased chance it could be picked for tv as we'd be a story to follow.
I'm also thinking that there could well be a boost to the town's standing and some extra on the attendances.
Of course, promotion is the most important thing this season, but the fact is we've one chance to cause a major major cup upset, we've another 35+ games to accrue enough points for promotion......

As good as it was at the time, the win over Everton didnt do our league prospects any good in the end not that I want to compare the shower of 2002/03 to the class of 2011/12 as there's no absolute no contest, but for that reason alone I'll go for the 3 points at Vale

Vale, and 3 points - a win their might feel as good as a result on Tuesday bearing in mind our wretch'ed record there.

I'll take a win at Vale anyday. Winning against big clubs in the cups is great and memorable, but the league is the bread & butter. Main aim this season is promotion to League One. Hopefully though we can win them both.

But why have bread and butter when you can have caviar? Because eating caviar in the basement isn't quite as nice.

depends what kid of fan you are imo if your the kind of fan that goes to a match to be entertianed or goto a match to see the win people will say they are both but if you would rather get to the next round rather than 3 points then its selfish imo because beating vale will help our season more than a win against arsenal IMO

Missing out on promotion depends on an idiot/blind/incompetant referee/linesman I'm afraid. (Or lack of goal-line technology). Common sense goes for 3 point at Vale. The heart wants a win at Arsenal. The reality is probably 2 defeats.

The trip to the Emirates will long be remembered by town fans, win or lose. A chance to see some great up and coming players, and the Arsenal lot. Having said that i would prefer to see us gain 3 points at Vale and push on for promotion. If only to stop the usual drearys spouting " its about time we got out of this god forsaken league."

Vale sounds like the 'sensible' option, but a victory over Arsenal at the Emirates would be glorious and live long in the memory.
We'll have pleny of time to put our season back on track if we lose at Vale, but will possibly never get another chance to knock Arsenal out of a major cup competition.
And, on the selfish side, I'm going to Arsenal but can't make Vale.
Realistically I'll take a performance to make us proud at the Emirates and a victory at Vale. Please...
