Not great via Shrewsbury cause of works going on at Manchester I think, so you have to go through Crewe.
Quite expensive as well.
PILCH may be able to help more?

i cant really help except give you a link to the online timetable & price site www.nationalrail.co.uk/planmyjourney/time_table/journey_requirements.asp?&T2ID=7698_200442120126also it may sometimes work out cheaper buying 2 or more lots of tickets eg shrewsbury - manchester return £13ish manchester - morecambe return £11ish will probably save you a tenner on shrewsbury - morecambe return £34ish there may be a cheaper and quicker way changing at crewe and going via preston but doubt it also check to see if there are any offers where you can get 3 tickets for the price of 2 or 4 for 2 i never have to buy tickets so i'm not sure how they work it actually

Cheers Pilch, it looks like we going to go to Crewe, catch the train to lancaster, have a few there and then on to morecambe.
I'm not fussy on the ale side of things this weekend Skunkie, I'll be too soaked on Timmy's home made wine ;D

A nice little old time station restaurant/bar in Lancaster Giles as I recall.

Further to what Pilch posted, my daughter went with friends to Brum yesterday and as they got the tickets the nice lady serving them asked if they wanted a group discount. £4 to New Street and back, good value I thought, and the train was 2mins early getting back to Shrewsbury
