Cadel Evans rode a magnificent time trial to win the tour. came second today and blitzed Andy Schleck... Turned a 57 second deficit into a 1 min 34 sec lead. Tony Martin HTC won time trial Cavendish to win tomorrow and win the green jersey and make history

Would of liked to see Andy Shleck win it, thought he was the most attacking rider this year. Fair play to Evans though, he's done all he needed too in the mountains and nailed brilliant time trial today.
Also shame Wiggins went out early on, he could of been top five easily the way he was riding, probably higher the way the race played out.

Didn't think it at the time, but with how weak the Schlecks and Contador have been - not saying they haven't been impressive at times, but far from their peak form - all he actually would have had to do was stick with Cadel (a tempo climber like himself), and out time-trial him, which he does consistently. Ah well, hopefully next year, if that's actually the focus next season what with the olympics; it defintely should be. And assuming Sky don't focus too much on Cav's lead out, if he signs. Hope Cav seals it tomorrow anyway. He should do, Rojas hasn't looked llke beating him in a proper sprint (Farrar may do, but that doesn't matter so much). Green jersey would be a massive achievement for British cycling. Best tour to watch in years. Hardly been a stage without major incident.

Being Olympic Year (and in UK as well) the TdF definately won't be his main objective next year, winning gold medals will be and quite rightly. The two are far too close together to focus on both. 2013 the TdF will be No1 priority (assuming he doesn't retire after Olympics)

I'm not sure Wiggins will prioritise the Olympics. His interview after he withdrew from the race gave the impression he'll focus on Le Tour. Most likely he'll go for the Road Race in London instead of the track - as combining that with Le Tour will be easier. He already has Olympic Gold, the Tour is a greater prize. His problem will be SKY who, as they look to be signing Cavendish, may struggle to support both GC and green jersey battles.
Interestingly, going back to today's stage, Wiggins completed that TT course in 55' 38" during the Dauphiné in June, and that was in the wet, virtually the same time as Martin and Evans today in near perfect conditions.

Yeah, but that was after one week of racing, rather than three, and Tony Martin won that day also. He'd still have done well, obviously, but i don't think it necessarily means he'd have blitzed it. I don't think it'd be too difficult to support both ambitions, but Cav would be getting nowhere near the support HTC give, specifically in chasing down breaks on their own all day every day. A three man lead out of Eisel, Boasson Hagen and Renshaw would be enough, with, like at HTC with Goss, Boasson Hagen going for the trickier finishes (as well as breaks and classics). A couple of super domestiques to control a variety of stages for both, and hope Thomas and maybe Uran develop in to riders who can properly stick with and work for Wiggo in the mountains. I don't see any need for the Olympics to be priority, even if it is in Britain. He's not got enough years left to just skip one, if he's got legitimate ambitions of winning. Plus, he's done it all already on the track, and has no chance with the road race. Should be made for Cav though, in that, well, the course literally was designed for Cav. And he doesn't already have a gold.
