Agree the right partner is key but yes. He had success when up front with a pace player such as ainsworth or Bradshaw - but he has the knack of getting in the right place, he is strong on the turn (e.g Rotherham 1st goal away) and determination (e.g. Hereford away) to go for goal - so yes at least 15-20 goals is realistic.

I think he can, can only improve after this season and he got 13 for us and Burton without playing every match. People who slag him off need to remember he is only young and learning all the time.

I rate harrold and Collins but they dont seem to Gel together as a partnership. They look better wehen they are upfront with a pacey player like Ainsworth or Bradshaw

No chance. He's too selfish IMO.

love to be proved wrong I really would, but I doubt it. Haven't been overly impressed and unless Tom comes to the fore or we invest in a proven goalscorer at this level - Lee Hughes as an example (and stress example as he's a tossbag) - we don't have a title winning forward line. Agree with the post that says Harrold & Collins doesn't work as a pairing.

No chance. He's too selfish IMO. Ideal for a good goalscorer - learn a bit in the next year or two and could very easily score 20+ a year

No chance. He's too selfish IMO. That sums you up as a poster on here! For a start, a goalscorer should be selfish. Secondly, Collins isnt selfish, in fact i would say he often tries to look for the pass rather than opting to go it alone. Take the Bury home game for a good example at 1-0 Collo was clear through and tried to pass accross to Harrold when he should have gone alone. Also, you dont go to many games so how can you conclude that there is 'no chance' of a 20 year old striker who scored13 last season without playing every game scoring 20+ goals for us next season? My personal opinion is that Collins is a class act and a bit underated. He will be a big player for us next season but as has been said needs the right partner.

Him and Cody McDonald would be a great partnership!

Him and Cody McDonald would be a great partnership! wow! Collins (offers promise to score many goals) + McDonald (guaranteed 20+ goal a season)

13 goals in 33 starts for us and Burton this season.
TBH, I'd rate him as solid and promising based on performances so far.
However, you can't really argue with those stats for anyone, let alone a 20 year old in his first season of first team football - they would certainly appear to suggest that if played 46 times in a season he'd get 15-20 goals.

He's scored some very important goals for us in the second half of the season, I'm thinking the doubles over Accrington and Rotherham and the goals against Vale, Hereford and Wycombe in particular. He know's where the net is and I think he's got it in him, but some games he can look a little off the pace, lethargic, and maybe even lazy. He is only young though and I think he's got promise.

If we have the Collins that we saw vs Hereford I can't see why not. The lad is strong and can hold his own with the physical side of L2.

you need to be selfish in front of goal sometimes,
I say yes, and remember he's only young,
but not him and Harrold together, I'd say Collins and Bradshaw, with stronger supply (and decent set pieces) the pair will get goals,
still need Harrold for when it gets nasty though

I say give him a chance. He scored some important goals for us towards the end of the season. Yes he had a few off days but then again half the squad did in those last few games. He scored 1 in 3 for the season which isn't bad at all and if you add 3-5 goals to that then suddenly he's up towards that magic 20 mark.

I can't see him being a 20+ striker. He will improve, as he has still got plenty to learn. More realistically I think 10-15 goals a season would be a good return.

Of course in a really succesful side the goals are shared around lots of players. A team that rely's totally on one player often fails when teams work out how to stop you.

i agree that he could score 20 ish a season. but its playing him with the right player, i think he works best with bradshaw, and harrold and ainsworth play well together. but harrold and collins... not so much. they seem to not understand the wot the other is going to do......

He'll never manage more than 10 if he's partnered with Harrold. A target man and n attacking midfielder with no killer instinct in my opinion won't be good enough. From what I've seen he's been distinctly average compared with the exciting Bradshaw and even Lionel.

I think hes got it in him definately, a pre season and a fresh start with a new team up top with Bradshaw they will murder this division as a partnership, easily capable of geting 20-25 a season me thinks the pair of them if they are let loose.

I think he's really good when partnered up front with bradshaw, They both look pacey and dangerous to the opositiin defence.

In a word no. If he had it in him would Villa have let him go?

In a word no. If he had it in him would Villa have let him go? If he had 20 league two goals in him would Villa have let him go? What an odd post. Yes, they may well of. He may not be good enough for the premiership but that doesn't mean he can't suceed at this level. Grant Holt was sold by a league 1 team who didn't think he was good enough, look where he is now. Collins has shown that he has real ability and I would not be at all surprised if he finished our top scorer next season. The combined goal scoring record for us and Burton is promising for a lad of his age still adapting to league two football. I would be interested to see how many goals, players such as Cody McDonald, who some people seem obsessed with, scored in their first season in the football league. The answer is 4 by the way.

I rate JC but I don't rate any partnership that we currently have available. I'm a Harrold fan but we haven't had the right partner for him since Jake Robinson. Tom Bradshaw is a hot prospect and I honestly think the best understanding with anyone I saw from him was Vale away 2009/10 season with Kris Bright! Which one of the three gets the most games will depend on what sort of striker comes in. I'm guessing GT wants pace up there as he's experimented with Lionel. If he gets it then Harrold might be in the driving seat.

Another odd post from Jonah. Are you aware there is a slight difference in class between the premier league and league 2?
I think Collins is our best player tbh

There's plenty of real potential there and I've been very impressed with Collins, he has a great eye for goal and isn't afraid to take defenders on like we saw at Hereford in particular. If his real stats are 13 goals in 33 then it's a great first season of first team football with a goal every 2 and a half games.
I think he'll get 16/17ish next season if he gets a good run out. I'd be surprised if we didn't sign a striker this summer and if the partnership is right I'd be inclined to play him alongside Collins with Bradshaw and Harrold coming off the bench.

If you think that JC is capable of 20 goals a season from what you have seen then fair enough I don't. In fact I don't see it from any of our strikers other than Jake Robinson.
