Just heard from a friend who supports Torquay that they and Stevenage have sold just 6,000 tickets combined so far for Saturday's game. It's apparently a combination of the distance, the cost, the fact it is on TV, the Champions League Final and the fact they have small supports any way.
I cannot see why the League couldn't have made allowance for another ground to be used in the event of the two southern teams getting through. Reading or Southampton would have been far better choices.

I think they should switch it to Brunden Park.

just cancel it and give it to the team from the play offs that get the most support. Seems only fair

I don't think it's so easy to switch a game with one week's notice. Sky will have their staff ready to set up at OT, police, stewards, catering, programmes etc etc. Much easier to rattle around in a too big stadium than try to switch at the last minute just so there's a better atmosphere.
Us against Vale at OT - if only.

from a quick look at both there messageboards, seems about right
Torquay have solf 5k and possbley a few more, Stevenage Chairman had said they had only sold 2.5K and will probs get up to 5k Both clubs have had a nightmare with ticket sales apparently, Torquay fans not happy with the club on that one!)
Either way, looking at it another venue would be preffereable, but its hard to do this sort of thing at the last min.
Tough call for the FA and league two, it was only two years ago out playoff final had 58k. If you say its at the start of the season in St Marys or Coventry, somewhere smaller, and it ended up with us and Wycombe in the final say, we would be moaning like hell!

Intresting too, that there was some debate about the price of tickets, from what I can make out, pretty much all tickets sold by both clubs were the £26 ones, and as such they pretty much sold out.
This then put other fans off going as the next tickets were something like £46!
Man U and the FL told the clubs that the area of £26 tickets increased and they should sell them. Les money for both clubs for a start, and a massive nightmare in getting tickets re printed or something?
Sounds like a bit of a faff, and could be more to it thatn that, but the Stevenage chiariman is not best pleased!

Last point from this, the attendance will also be effected, as unfortunatly a lot of OT regulars who may have been tempted if Uniteds season was over, to boost the attendance looking to watch any game of footy over the summer, will be otherwise engaged... thats pretty unlucky for the League...

On a serious note this isn't breaking news is it?
Are supporters really complaining that their team has got to the final?
It's been advertised as Old Trafford for months now so no sympathy.
What really takes the p!ss is league two this season. Shocking ref decisions, shocking points deductions - load of rubbish.

That level of support in a play off final is shocking really. Guess had Accrington been there they might have taken a few more just by being close. And us? I guess about 20,000 at a guess?
Still fair play to Torquay, they beat us fair and square and deserve their day out. Hope they win it.

No-one seems to worry when usually the rest of the country is expected to travel to Wembley.

That is pretty poor.
But if you think about it, a fair few fans from both teams have had to come up North for the semi-finals which will have already cost a bit. It is very pricey for both sets of fans.
Also, I'm guessing the FL won't have lost any money from this, from the compensation they apparently received from the FA/Wembley for breaking the contract and having the CL final on the same day.

Would have thought you could turn up on the day and get a ticket on the gate at old Trafford, so that could well attract a few thousand more than ticket sales at the clubs involved suggest

Sad to say that the only way the ground would ever have been anywhere near full would have been Shrews v Accrington. We would have taken a lot and I'm sure Accy would have found themselves with a lot of fans because they are fairly local to OT and other fans would have gone with them.
However, not to be so it is just one of those things. Perhaps with hindsight it would have been better if the FA had put a southern ground on standby in case this happened but then again that's just too much like commonsense I suppose!

The football league need teams like us getting through to these games as we would take something like 20,000 there. Therefore the takings would be so much higher. The FA must be feeling pig sick looking at what they've sold so far.

The Football League have themselves to blame.
£46 for a ticket? How many neutrals will go at that sort of cost? They sold out the £26 ones.
It is madness.
not only will there only be 10,000 odd there, they will all be up in the Gods and the stadium will completely empty.

Should have played this and Div 1 game at Villa Park if they had the chance.
40k + stadium in the middle of the country with good motorway and rail links.
20k for each team - more than enough for loyal supporters to get a ticket.

Reading's ground would have been suitable for both teams,in the middle of the both teams, and I don't think the tickets would of been so pricey

It's the big teams' fault for not getting there. Rotherham, Salop, Gillingham and Bradford should have been up there.
