Edwards was poor today but I'd play him on Tuesday as I think he needs a run of games. With the play-offs guaranteed and Gravesend with nothing to play for I expect we might see a few changes in the line-up.
I suspect we would struggle in the third but I think that if we did go up then there would be some cash for squad strengthening. We'd have all the cash from the play-offs and we'd be able to budget knowing we would have our league subsidy back.

The playoffs aren't all about which team's better, although that contributes to it. The playoffs are about who wants it more, and who backs the team more. I'd say that you lot want to get out of here, so if you want it enough, you stand every chance.

Jimmy said regardless of which divisionw e are in next year we need at least 4 new players who are better than what we have already in certain positions
that suggests to me he thinks we need some more improvement to make the grade in the league

i agree, if we go in with the right attitude and the right team selection we've got just as much chance of being in div.3 next year as anyone else has, if not more chance.

If we were to go up and its a big if.
It sounds like JQ knows what needs doing.
Added to the fact that we have a core basis of players here (Cramb/Howie/Darby/Rodgers/Street/Tolley/Moss/Aiston/Edwards/Lowe who are more than good enough for division 3.
Yes a few of these players may be off reguardless, but that still leaves us with proven league players on the books. Obviously cover would need to be bought for an aging centreback (Tinson) and from what other supporters said a very average div3 centre back (Ridds-sorry Iain)
Midfield would need strenghening, but the basis of a good side is there. Added to the fact that division 3 football is a standard and culture of football the players have experianced before, where everything from the players, style of football etc. to the refs and stadiums are that bit/much better than conf, which in theory should make adapting to div3 easier than we found adapting to the conference.
Of course all of this is ifs and buts, we still have 3 VITAL games to play (Play-offs) before we can realistically start to think about what we'll be doing next season.

i thought ridler was superb yesterday, for me he's more than good enough for div 3 I agree. Rids has always been a good, steady centre back when i've seen him.

I think we have the nucleus of a good side for div 3. With the addition of a couple of naturally right and left sided players, a midfield general to back-up O'Connor and eventually replace him, and an early to mid 20's big 6ft 2/3 centre half in the mold of Mickey Heathcote. The forward line is good, probably the best set of forwards in the conference, especially now Darby is doing what we all can do and has been doing all his career, score goals.

we will hold our own in division 3.
the top 5 of the conference is the standard of the top 10 in div 3.
any team that gets promoted is a top 5 team of the next division in my opinion
there is lots of dross in div 3
we now have a decent defence. If we had that back 4 last season we would have never gone down
BUT if we stay down and assume Hereford get promoted... but look at Chester who I watched lots last season.. they didnt cut the mustard against Daggers in their play off.. its a lottery !
there will be even more competition next season
Exeter will be stronger Rochdale and York will be tough (or carliar) Aldershot look good Canvy Island will be no push over and us.. thats 6 for starters
Only ONE goes up. The gap between professional clubs and run of the mill conference sides and teams hanging on will increase to the fact it will be 3 leagues in one.
For the neutral it is a superb league, but when you are in it, you just want OUT !!
