Lots of talk regarding who should be put up against him. Harold seems to be the player he likes - big and physical who will give as much as he gets - very much like Crouch and Heskey - we have seen Harold get penalised a lot this season largely due to his height and build - rather than actual fouls.
Do we put Bradshaw/Ainsworth up against him and make him sweat?
He has a bad record regarding red cards - 18 in his career to date - 1 v Salop when playing for Burton (taking out leslie after a string of fouls).
Do we focus on Branston and try to outpace him / draw in the fouls?

I think the crowd should get on his back from the off It's not too hard to wind him up

I'm sure they will just laugh it off if Town perform like they did on saturday - might be different if we actually put them under a bit of pressure though

Some players lap up the negativity and embrace being the panto villain, thing is I don't think Branston is one of them.
The crowd needs to play a huge part on Friday and anything which gives Salop a tiny advantage needs to be considered. I'm with Pilch, on his back from the off and hopefully Wright/Ainsowrth/Taylor/Bradshaw will have him on a yellow early on.

Im not sure how many of you saw this on saturday, but when some of your fans chanted at him calling him fat, he loved it and gave some banter back. GUy has been a complete diffrent player since hes has been with us, as hes seems more calm and more of a footballer and love the ambuse rather than a thug back in his burton and ketering days. From the sounds of things i have a feeling Jakey maybe staying with us for next season, he doesnt think he will go back to you. I think he will try to hard again

Branston was an appalling player when he was at Burton. He looked very good to me - could have been due to Town not turning up yet again though, the very reason we are in the play offs and not on a beach somewhere.

I think we're all underestimating him, he has been collusus this season and didn't make the team of the year by default.

From my dealings in the Burton days, the man is a thug who can dish it out but can't take it. Maybe he has changed, as the Torquay fan a bit above says - but give him a bit of sledging and a few hard but fairs and I think it could set him off enough to get rid of him - shame it wasn't done on Saturday really.
Before the Torquay fans come back at me, I have other reasons for my thoughts on this (I was administrator of the Burton messageboard that was very frustrated with him) that I'm not saying here, but suffice to say my issues are personal and not football related!

Think if we punt high balls forward Branston is going to be equal or better than our forwards at dealing with those and we will get very little from him.
Get players running at him with the ball, or playing the ball behind him and I'd imagine he wouldn't have such a comfortable game. Added to this we simply have to get our central midfielders making runs into the box and getting behind their defence. If we play a static 4-4-2 Torquay can simply get players behind the ball and will ease through - we have to pass it well and have lots of movement off the ball.

Thought he played great on Friday though we didnt test him too much Played to his strengths, with high balls. If we get the ball down and run at him, it might be a different story

If we pass the ball well and if we have some pace up front and if we have some runners coming through from midfield then we might give Branston a difficult match.
If we just lump it forward and don't even challenge for half the high balls, as on Saturday, then he'll be a very comfortable villain on Friday night and will probably enjoy playing to the crowd.

Personally think we should start with Collins and Ainsworth, give him a physical and pacey first half, then bring on super Matty Harrold and Bradshaw. Harrold has looked like such a threat whenever he's come on as a sub.

Rate him or hate him, he didnt give us a sniff at Plainmoor. I hope we start with Bradshaw and lionel, maybe the little nippy type's are his achilles heal. As for this thug bollox, thats just how i'd want my defenders if i was a manager, i think he's a great centre-back.

While the pundits raved about Tomlin, Robinson and Zebrovski, For me It was Branson who really hurt us in the first leg. Harrold didn't get a sniff against him and looked pretty resigned to being second to every ball. We've seen Harrold bully many a central defender this season but Branson seems to have Matty's number. Turner has got a few big calls to make at both ends of the pitch. Totally trust the old fox to give us every chance of progressing to Old Trafford.

I think the crowd should get on his back from the off It's not too hard to wind him upYes it is! he loves a bit of banter, & his temper has improved no end. The last time he was sent off was a few games before the end of last season against Grimsby, & that was 2 yellow cards for "professional fouls"

Pub player, good in the air and we played to his strengths, get him out of his comfort zone down the channel in space and lets see how good he is then and how long that fragile temperament holds up if we get at him on and off the pitch.Temper has improved my a** hes a centre half who gets away with more than his fair share and i should know!! He was close to mom on Saturday and thats more about how bad we were.
