It seems that a thread about Neal starts every week. So you start a thread about Neal and then use that justification why he should be dropped. He has made mistakes which have cost us points this season but did not yesterday. I would need to see the 'fumble' again as to see whether it was actually a fumble or just a save that rebounded off him, however his reactions were quick and he was brave to get the ball. Hes a fairly inexperienced division 4 goalkeeper who was playing in potentially difficult conditions with how wet the surface was. Overall his performance was fine yesterday and Ive certainly got no complaints. Lay off the lad FFS

Even keepers in my school team make the ball stick to their chest. Now if a pro keeper struggles with that he should not be a number 1 keeper.I know atleast 5 times this season when he has spilled the ball back out into play luckily it has only cost us twice but it could of been much worse.

Tell you what, watch all the Premiership games next weekend and see how many professional goalkeepers playing at the top level make fumbles. I suspect it will be a few Chris Neal may be a profressional footballer but he is not a robot.

I am getting totally fed up of this criticism of Chris Neal from people who clearly have vast experience of coaching keepersThis sentence just about sums up the type of people who are throwing the brickbats. Even keepers in my school team make the ball stick to their chest. CN is as good a keeper as you will get at this level - IMO better than Smith too- get off his back. I hope he has mnore sense than to read the crud posted on here by frustrated people who know nothing about the art of keeping goal.

Account needs to be taken of the way modern balls move around, very difficult for 'keepers to judge their flight accurately.
That's why so many 'keepers prefer to punch or palm the ball away, trying to make clean catches is too risky.
And I'd suggest that the school goalie may be able to catch because schoolboys cannot hit a ball as hard as a pro.

Couldn't blame Neal for the goal (down to sloppy play by McAllister on the edge if the box) but having seen it on tv felt a top keeper at this level having got so close to it may have pushed it around the post. Absolutely Spot On ! Unfortunately Macca lost possession and once again we lost possession and Holden wasn't tight on the player coming in behind him . BUT Once again Neal fumbled and pushed it out . This wasn't a fumble after trying to catch it but a fumble /parry that was once again pushed out straight to their striker , not even a attempted parry around the post ! . Remember how the exact same thing happened to Le Fondre but he messed up that chance when he should have scored easily . The same at Wycombe and Stevenage ! One fumble per game is costing us dearly . Yes he did everything else correctly but they were not hard and a conference / blue square keeper would have coped exactly the same . With respect to Neal you NEED TO IMPROVE as the SAME MISTAKES are being repeated every week . Do we have a goalkeeping coach ?
