He didn't really have anything to do and when he did he fumbled it.

Could of been costly, fortunately it wasn't. I agree its time for Smith to get his chance.

get of neals back he had a solid game the main concern for me is how poor robinson really is yes he can finish the ball but his build up play is crap, is vision is crap, he hardly ever passes it but still gets in the team. yes he done one cross which set up the goal but that was the only thing he done right all game.

I guess you didn't go to Crewe, and also you could say the same about Wright today, he was pretty shocking doesn't mean he should be dropped does it.

Rubbish, it wasn't one of Wright's better games but certainly not shocking. There were very few if any standout players today.

Didnt get a clear view of the clash after the fumble - was it 2 footed on him?

I thought Wright was really really poor. But when the person I was with was criticizing him, I said, "yes there's no point criticizing him cos he's more than likely to pop up with a goal even playing like this", and well, I was right We need to take the spotlight off Neal, if there's going to be a thread everytime he fumbles it's quite frankly going to be a joke. For the most part I thought his handling was spot on, and one really good punch as well. His distribution isn't great though.

I am one of Wright's biggest fans but today I cannot remember him beating a man, putting in a decent cross or any real off the ball movement in their half, so I do think he was pretty shocking.

Although Mark is mainly right footed, most of his tricks are better when he plays left side. He wasn't shocking anyway. Although the performance was very poor.

Chris Neal is NOT the problem - the problem is a potential automatic promotion team failing yet again to get out of second gear at home against poor opposition. If we sit back and let teams come at us in nervey 2nd halves even Joe Hart would be spilling at least one. LEAVE THE GUY ALONE!! BTW Robinson should be dropped for failing to square the ball to Macca in the first half - HE COST US TWO POINTS

Think he is the latest target of those who like to have a scapegoat. He will move on as will some of you to a new target...your hunger for someone to blame will never be satisfied.
Sadly.

What does that say about his performances then? It says that people are downright thick as monkey crap (no offence to monkeys or their crap) He is as talented as any other keeper at this level and he is as consistent as any other keeper at this level. The goal today was not his fault. We need to strenghten to get promoted, but goalkeeping is NOT that position. A creative midfielder and an 'Adam Le Fondre' 20 goal striker are what we need. Let's think about the goalkeeping position if we get promoted, until then, let's shut the f*ck up and get off his back.

Disagree but that's your opinion, I guess Southend must have identified him as a threat with pace and goalscoring ability so doubled up on him at times and closed him down quickly.

Couldn't blame Neal for the goal (down to sloppy play by McAllister on the edge if the box) but having seen it on tv felt a top keeper at this level having got so close to it may have pushed it around the post.

Chris recovered well to rectify the error to which you refer. Hard to stay focussed in plummeting temperatures when you're little more than a bystander. I thought what he did do when called upon, was all you expect from your goalkeeper. I grow tired of every single last thing being analysed. Any calls for Van der Sar to be dropped after that horrendous howler aginst the Baggies which ultimately may cost Taggart's men the title? Of course not. Lay off Neal - he's plenty good enough IMO.

His personal stats are interesting. For a player his age, he is very inexperienced. www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=40510When it comes to taking crosses, I don't think I've seen anyone much better in a town shirt. He does however have this problem taking shots cleanly, particularly low down. What bit I know about goalkeeping, if you can't take it cleanly, I thought the idea was to push the ball sideways, away from goal. Clearly other clubs have picked up on this, so when he spilled it yesterday, their players were alert to rush in.

Did well to react to the spilled shot. I thought his distribution and taking of crosses was generally very good yesterday.

Personally thought Neal did well yesterday.
The shot that he did spill was hit with great power and came through a big crowd of players, and he very bravely pounced on the ball after.
Get off the lads back, he is a decent lower league keeper and Smith is no better.
