hi there... hope you all get down to SMS. looking at the draw, this could be the biggest crowd of the round. Shouldn't imagine it will be on the box, our new chairman upsets the media. No shirt sponsors, no advertisements around the ground... who needs them he says. Anyhow, should be around 20k plus what ever you can bring down. BTW saintsweb site, quoted above, not a welcoming sie for away fans..it's known as the darkside. try this one for humour and banter www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/fb_mb.php

Hang on Tim!! I were at that too. Were it not a draw down there? I thought we held them? 1-0 loss in the away leg, won the home leg 2-0, Summerfield and Brown Yup - there too thanks to Chris Smith...............Can always remember Town fans singing "England's Number 1" to Tim Flowers Never quite understood why the 2-0 win hasn't gone down in folk law

Soton at the time were crap under Branfoot. I think Saints brought 25 fans with them who hurled abuse at him all game. Mr Bason did the same to Dowie (U G L I E !!). Mickey Brown's goal still is the stuff of folklore!!

No personal abuse woo woo woo how soft is this board. If you can only argue your case with personal abuse instead of a reasoned opinion, I would suggest you have no case in the first place!!! Furthermore, it is the abuse of the swear filter you used in two consecutive posts to emphasise your posts that has drawn attention to yourself. You know B&A and indeed proboard rules better than most. At times you can come up with some cracking posts. Don't let yourself down with poorer posts such as those witnessed here.

I'll be there with the Pompey/Shrewsbury alliance formed at Bognor uni in 1996-99!
Alot's been said of when the two sides met in the early 90's, but surely theres a few old timers who remember the Littlewoods cup?? clash of circa 86/87, cant remember the exact year, We met em in the quarter finals at the Dell and lost 1-0 to a bit of a dodgy penalty put away by Matt Le tissier. A clear handball but barged from behind by Southampton player. Ive got the game on VHS, but from memory, which obviously aint up to much given i cant even remember the yr, we hit the bar thru colin Robinson, then had the ball in the back of the net thru Andy Linegan but it was ruled out for a foul on Shilton. Im sure i remember the Shresbury fans singing "Shilton, hows yr wife?" after he'd been in the papers for knocking her about, which at the time was quite funny... almost as much as watching him tryin to samba on strictly

I vaguely remember the League Cup Quarter Final game and seeing the highlights on Central stating that we were unlucky. The game was on 27th January 1987, attendance 12,940.
A quick mention in BOTS about the game:
"The winners would meet Liverpool in a two leg semi-final, but a momentary aberation by ary Hackett led to a penalty for handball, just as a replay was seeming inevitable."

Good news.
I hope if Southampton make it further in the competition and are drawn away at a Premier League club that they actively pursue a similar ticketing policy to be adhered to.

Good news indeed - though I do feel it could have been expressed more diplomatically!! Oh and by the way when does a 'kid' become a 'young adult'? My lad is 14 - kid or young adult?

My lad is 14 - kid or young adult? Not sure, you'll have to check on that, but given the fact that those on the turnstiles are not payed enough to give a **** you'd probably get away with a kids ticket.

"Taming of the Shrews" that's a new one.
"Bearing mind the opposition" that from a mid-table 3rd division team.
"Looking to cash in" lets see how they go about things if they draw Man Utd away in the 3rd round.
Southampton can f@&k right off.

At the moment I'm leaning towards not going, simply because I'm not sure I can justify the money and time for a game that doesn't particularly interest me. Still got plenty of time to change my mind though.
