The real test for them will be when the scouts / managers start to work out how to shut them down.
Promoted sides often start with a bang then when they start to play teams a second time it unravels a bit and their second half of the season form tails off.
That said: I do think Blackpool will continue to give a few surprises, and those surprises might stop being such a surprise.

Fair play, they've started well and have gotten a good lead over west ham already Gotton ? No such word.....................West Ham have played Man Utd, Chelsea and Villa in their last 3 games............normal service will be resumed against those Oatcake swallowers on saturday. As for Blackpool Wynnie owd lad, I was up there two weeks ago and spotted they now have camel rides on the beach. And guess what they gave the Camels for lunch ? Half an hour, the same as the Donkeys

Reckon they will still go down but the fact they have already got 2 away wins has given them a fantastic opportunity to stop up.I hope they do stay up as Holloway is great fun but i still think when the injuries start the fact they have such a small squad will count against them.
At least they have spirit as they the pounding from Arsenal and bounced back, they will need to do that a lot this season as the open way they play will meen they get more than their share of hammerings.

The main point of this thread, although I admit I generalised it, was to gage the reaction of those who said they would get less than Derby's record low of 11 points. Ed, you talk about the next 6 games, but Holloway was targeting one point from the next 2 games before Newcastle yesterday. He has already surpassed that. They have to play the Chelsea's and Man City's of this world sometime (I won't even include Liverpool - and there are a team who lack strength in depth!!) Funnily enough there only defeat came at Arsenal and they were only one down and giving the Gunners a hell of a game until Evatt's sending off. Not many will get anything at the Emirates though, will they? I understand people will still write off their survival chances and, as I have stated before 'Pool will thrive on that and use it as their strength. Bit by bit though surely people must to realise they are not cannon fodder and just there to make up the numbers. They have a bit more to them than that. The first target I'm sure wil be to surpass 11 points and make people eat their words on that score; and that looks like being achieved quite quickly. In fact Ed I will wager within those next supposedly 6 difficult games you have mentioned. Fair play for your optimism. What I will say is this, Chris. There is about as much chance of Blackpool staying in the Premier League this season as there is of me flying to the moon tomorrow lunchtime for a curry.

There is about as much chance of Blackpool staying in the Premier League this season as there is of me flying to the moon tomorrow lunchtime for a curry. Now let me just get this straight. Blackpool have every intention of fighting every step of the way to stay in the Premiership. You have no intention at all of flying to the moon for a curry. Nah, sorry, don't get the analogy at all. Up there again with your worst posts (we could produce a book, couldn't we). But, perhaps while we are talking curries, might I suggest you go for one a little closer to home and see if you can maybe help rid yourself of that excrement you seem to be struggling to shift

Blackpool won't stay up. They've got Chelsea away on sunday, i'm thinking 6-0.
Just to go back to Sam's point on Cardiff's 2-0 win against Hull. Don't forget Cardiff were without four of the key players for that game, and five of the key players for the defeat on tuesday. Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Cardiff have a tiny squad, if by some miracle they sustain this through the season the sole reason will be because of the loan players they have got (and a only paying a fraction of their wage)

Cardiff have a tiny squad. Not really. Another defender, Chris Riggott, signed today. Not many times this season will Bellamy, Chopra, Bothroyd, Olofinjana and Drinkwater all be injured. When you have players like Jason Koumas and Andy Keogh on the bench, you don't have a "tiny squad".

When you have players like Jason Koumas and Andy Keogh on the bench, you don't have a "tiny squad". Seeing as you're so keen on a reply... "Bellamy, Chopra, Bothroyd, Olofinjana and Drinkwater" you mention. 3 of those aren't even Cardiff players. "Keogh and Koumas on the bench". Again, not Cardiff City players. Maybe they have signed a few more players than I thought, I'll have to take your word on it though if you believe they have the quality and strength in depth to maintain their push this season. But two points: - I hope you weren't one of the people criticizing the manner in which Hereford achieved promotion, because Cardiff seem to be trying the exact same approach, and I would hate for you to look stupid or hypocritical in any sort of way. I suppose they'll have Man City, Man Utd, Wolves,Wigan et al to thank if you do achieve promotion, as not only have they loaned you the players, but they appear to be paying them as well. - I haven't kept up to date with Cardiff's ongoing saga with the taxman, but it doesn't sit kindly with me that Cardiff are spending money whilst still remaining financially insecure. I stand to be corrected on that point Finally... It is clear to me Ned your comments about Blackpool are born out of bitterness that Cardiff were the team that lost to them. Blackpool deserved the promotion, they have done themselves credit so far and will continue battling until they're either mathematically safe or relegated (more likely to be relegated in my opinion). Yes, they will probably be spanked by Chelsea but at least they are there, living the dream, and Cardiff are not.

Cardiff will be able to afford the players on permanents next season, Bellamy for one has alrady said he wants to spend the rest of his career at the club.

Yep, because Craig Bellamy knows Cardiff will always want him and saying this will help in long term should he not find a bigger and better club. However should he find that, I think he may just go back on his word, Craig Bellamy honest sportsman he is not.

He is loyal to his hometown club, and I would be prepared to put a lot of money on him staying at the club next season in the Premier League.

Blackpool won't stay up. They've got Chelsea away on sunday, i'm thinking 6-0. Wow Sherlock, you don't say? I said their positive goal difference (+4) after Wigan would be turned into negative when they faced Arsenal as it was too soon for them to face them with so many new players who had only just signed and with getting used to the Premier League. I mean everyone else will be expected to walk over Chelsea in their back yard, won't they? The fact is Blackpool have already got 7 points (you confidently predicted they would get less than Derby's 11) and you have continually dissed any chance they have, firstly on getting up, now on gaining points and surviving. Have you ever thought about a career as an ITV pundit? You have all the qualifications!!

As I said before, I admire your optimism. We'll see just who's smiling in the end, though. Why would you be smiling in the end? You said you wanted Blackpool to stay up. Oh, but then you also said you can't stand Holloway. Along with statements made about how you are glad certain people are dead and quotes of 'good' when someone has misfortune, you sure do have a hell of a lot of hate in you for one so young Ned.

Cardiff will be able to afford the players on permanents next season, Bellamy for one has alrady said he wants to spend the rest of his career at the club. Everything wrong with the game today can be seen in the way Cardiff have operated in the last few years. Cloud cuckoo land business plans (assuming they actually had one), not a pot to pee in or pay Motherwell what they are owed but still assemble the squad they have on as yet empty promises of squillions from some random geezer in the far east. Arrogance. Don't worry about the bills boyos, this time next year......................

As Holloway rightly said, Blackpool need to win games to stay up.
Think this thread could do with taking a nap for a few months...
