My argument is Ant if I wanted Womens football News I'd log onto the FA Womens Site not the Shrewsbury Town one. But the majority of people at the game will be people from Shrewsbury.

I think its been summed up well on here..
Its not news
Its promotuion of an event that long and short term can only help STFC..
How that could every be considered a waste of time is beyond me (more so as it certain that Whits has done a copy and paste job from an FA news report thats taken all of 5 minuted!)
Bit of Friday madness here I think!

Turn away SSS: even the Beeb has got in on the act! news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/women/8985814.stmIf i wanted to read about it I would have gone to the women's FA website! Waste of a license fee! They even had the audacity to drag our club's name into it a couple of times in the national press. How will we ever recover?

As someone whose previously been a bit critical of the clubs media output I'm delighted with the coverage being given to the England womens game.
Staging the game gets the club into the national press and the chance to show off the ground to journalists covering the game. It's also hopefully going to get local people visiting the ground for the first time with the potential to get them back as town fans in the future.
At a local level womens football us also growing quickly and it would be great to think that as a result of hosting the game it encourages a local girl to take up the game and maybe one day do a Joe Hart and play for England.
So all in all coverage on the website is to be applauded

SSS you might want to check out which game achieved the highest attendance at the New Meadow. A clue, it weren't the boys...
It's all good news for the club and should be promoted on the website imo

Firstly well done STFC for getting the game on at our ground in the first place, more than that the English Womens team actually enjoy coming here. We are up against over a hundred stadia around the country this is something to be proud of.
In the second instance, as for judging the standards of football by comparison. STFC when compared with Milan and Barcelona are terrible by comparison. Yet we still follow them don't we.
Its like saying the disabled olympics should not take place as compared to the main olympics the standards are terrible. Perhaps people should realise that this is the best that can be achieved by dedicated people and appreciate that.

Hats off to you SSS. I knew there was something missing this season and of course it's your bizarre moaning!
This might just be the most bizarre one yet. Well done sir - Shrewsbury's very own Terry Jones - "Burn a Koran Day". You've taken the biscuit this time, every last jammie dodger.

Thing is I personally dont rate Womens football much higher than Sunday League football, why do I care? Interesting comment. Having witnessed the Sunday League Cup final and the Womans Cup final at the then named Prostar Stadium last season, the ladies were far superior. Thinking like a cold hearted businessman the benefits of us promoting the game are clear - full ground means positive coverage of Town and GM in media, on TV (future TV games), and also young fans getting hooked on the game coming to the next Town game. We must also benefit financially from attendance somehow, whether it be caterers, staff getting paid, club shop etc. The question should be is it being promoted enough? Just to say I'm at the GM for most of the weekend working and will not see any more money in my pay, benefit of a salary Having said that I think its an honour and something we should be proud of as employees or supporters that our stadium is hosting such a game

Dearest Leon
A month or so now you harped on for three days questioning the role of Mr John Harris. You stated that you would find out for yourself and let us know. Now unless I am mistaken, there is apparently no reply from you and Mr Harris is still awaiting communication from you.
I think I absolutely love Wolves to death compared of your apparent support of STFC
there are 2 stories about it - TWO!!!!!!!
AND our stadium is the VENUE which will be live on BBC where the NATIONAL team are playing in a one off play off game against Switzerland to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Germany
If a Kaizer Chief fan grumbled like you did and commented about the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria being used for the World Up, quite frankly it would be of no surprise if he have been shot dead.
Regarding the club shop, the club will earn far more money that an online shop over the course of the week, so therefore that kills that argument on how the media team spend their valuable time.
Lastly for someone who seems to be quite particular in getting things right, I think that I personally speak on behalf of the majority of B+A readers and therefore question your username as it should now be Salop Caravan Stand Shrew, after all you were originally known as Wakeman Shrew.
