After Tuesday game a few friends and myself feel the club needs its own song. Hey Jude is ok but everyone and every club sing it. At wembley they played Catch us if you can, i dont see this as our club song, and its not that good being honest. Any really old Town fans know of any history of a Club song. Its our 125th birthday and what a great time it would be each home game singing with passion a Club song.

Good idea, but you'd have to ask the club if they could play a song just before kick off.

Surely a run-out song and an anthem are the same thing. Most clubs run-out to their anthem. Catch us if you can is the generally accepted town song, even though its rarely been sung.

You rightly point out that every club sings Hey Jude yet you want to adopt something that is sung by Scotland,Southend,Leicester,Stoke,Liverpool,Wellington Phoenix,Dundee,Anderlect,Ross County etc The song has also been used by the SDL so it should be avoided as there were a lot of racist comments on Tuesday and we don't want Shrewsbury getting a bad name now do we?

Thats the first time I've ever heard that tune and I must admit I quite like it on first impression, would be good to hear the Salop contingent give it a try tomorrow to see how it goes....
I love CUIYC for what it is but as a terrace anthem its almost impossible to sing, Wembley proved that, however I think CUIYC should always have a place in the pre-match song list no matter what our run out tune is.

Why? No its a serious question. what is it going to achieve? Whats its purpose? In all the glory days of this club, have we ever had a club "anthem" beyond "catch us if you can". No. If you want one now then fair enough, but i just wonder what its for and what would be the point?

I don't see a problem with CUIYC not being 'singable' - its still our unique song, its not like Everton fans sing along to Z Cars is it? I agree an identifiably Shrewsbury terrace song/chant would be great, but I'm not sure these can be planned. Notts County's Wheelbarrow Song is a classic example of an unplanned genius... Good luck though - anything which supports the Town is good news.

I've heard mention on here a few times of a Town song that was recorded in the 70s - a sort of glossy, sing-along one a bit like "Marching on Together" or "Ally's Army."
Does anyone have a copy or know where it is on the internet?

What it will achieve is a song thats known to us Shrewsbury Town, like Liverpool who have youl never walk alone. It will bring a better atmosphere on match days thats for sure, im not saying that this song is the answer, just a good start made by 1 of our members who is trying like myself to get a song for us. So if this song is not what some people want, we can still sing it anyhow while we try and find1.

Can't see why fans can't sing CUIYC, it's been playing for years, IT IS OUR SONG and everyone should know it by now now. Sing it! or at least an excerpt.
I for one, a Town fan for 31 years am feeling really excited about this season. There's a buzz about. Catch us if you can!

Here's a thought - Did any hear in Graham Turner's interview with Stuart Dunn after the Oldham game last night? The squad had Frank Sinatra’s New York New York playing in the changing room.
In addition to CUIYC why not join in with the current choice of music and sing out New York New York – it might catch on with everyone including the players!!

In the days of yore "son, you'll be a Shrewsbury fan" (batchelor boy) was always sung but I suppose that's old hat now

Virtually any Sinatra song has the ability to become an anthem do we all know the words to "My Blue Heaven"?

Have listened to this and think it is brilliant, the only way to get it going is for song sheets (with amended lyrics) to be handed out as supporters enter the stadium and arrangements made with the club to play the song a few minutes before kick off. Once adopted by fans it would sound awesome.
