I can't believe anyone would boo him. He managed us for a couple of seasons in which we didn't quite meet expectations and so he was sacked. It's not like he got us relegated. It's not like he bankrupted us. I'm sure he tried his best to get us promoted, his best just wasn't quite good enough. Now we have a manager we are happy with, so let's move on. Booing Simmo will just make us look bad. Rise above it. Ignore him if you must, or politely applaud, or even a chorus of "Simmo give us a wave". Keep positive and save your energy for getting behind GT and the boys.

I can't believe anyone would boo him. Go to a quiet part of Japan and listen. You'll hear plenty of aunty simo chants. It goes with the terry tory.

Some Town fans need someone to boo, just like some seem to be quiet on here at the moment, because there is not much to moan about. Soooooo true Keeper He did his best which turned out not to be good enough so move on. It's football so I have bet on a Stockport win

The guy got us to wembley lets not forget, and brought the best striker to play in our colours in modern times, and sold him for 3x the money. A few good results in his time here and a few bad 1s. The guy does not deserved to be booed, its not as if he got us relagated or in any financial trouble, just could not do his job we all would of liked he could of done, in the time given to him. So no boo only COME ON YOU BLUES.

Booo. No doubt about it. Like one of the previous posters, I stopped enjoying the game, and stopped going to the Meadow because of him.
I'll join in with all the 'we are diabolical' , 'subs on the hour, you'll make your subs on the hour' chants as they are rolled out as much as celebrating each of the new charges under Turners far superior footballing tutelage.

Booo. No doubt about it. Like one of the previous posters, I stopped enjoying the game, and stopped going to the Meadow because of him. Yep, it got to the point where you almost expected to sit in pure boredom and gloomness for 90 minutes such was the despondency around the club last season, I think the Staines game really was the beginning of the end for him. My dad went to the Stoke game, his first since the Macclesfield Boxing Day debacle and he was buzzing afterwards with the way we tried to play football, he just couldnt believe how different it was from the shambles that was the Macclesfield game. Knowing our luck now Stockport will outpass us, outclass us, and then maybe win 1-0 by a dodgy late own goal

Shouldn't get booed or applauded I don't think, tried to do a job, it didn't work out, end of story. Nice guy who still lives local to Oswestry, always willing to chat, I don't understand the hatred towards him, he wasn't exactly Ratcliffe standard! Was he not? Radcliffe had no money and wr were relegated! Simpson had loads of money and got us mid table! I think if he had no money he'd have got us relegated

“I would like to think it will be a good reception,” he confirmed. “I hope they all remember the football we played a couple of seasons ago and the forward players we had who could get goals at that level. “It’s irrelevant what I say but I would always hope supporters support their team and have respect for other people.” www.shrewsburychronicle.com/2010/08/26/town-stronger-ex-boss-simpson/Sounds like he is fully expecting a bit of abuse, and it does appear his biggest defence is "Remember I bought Grant Holt", which is fair comment.

Bizzare that. Daft. The chap was there to win football matches, to get the points to get Town promoted. He got us close the one season and it fell away the next. He did his best, it didn't work out. And for that you are going to boo him. Because he wasn't good enough for what was needed. Not because he was a t**t, not because he fliped the club over, not because he didn't give a flip...but because he just wasn't up to the job. I'm sure he was hurting just as much as you and me at Wembley... I hope you give the chairman as much s**t the next time you see him or? As it was him who brought Simpson in and kept him at the club when you stopped enjoying the football and stopped going? Surely he's just as much at fault? He could have got shot well before he did do... I really don't understand some folk, I really dont...

in 15+ years as a Town fan through thick and thin, last season I actually questioned whether I still supported the club as I couldn't bring myself to support a club under Simpson's reign. The Staines game was the final straw and ok I had a few issues with the club but I think Simpson destroyed the club temporarily and Wycherley's hesitation in getting rid of him didn't help either. Yeah there were some memories, Gillingham 7-0, Bury away in the playoffs but I couldn't warm to the man. To be fair a great media man, but on a personal level pretty clueless and the form of Jake Robinson amongst others this season shows the man's man management skills were nowhere near up to scratch. The only man hated by pretty much every club he's managed. Preston and Blackpool dont have a lot of common ground but even they are united in the same resentment for Simpson. Never the man's fault, first it was the players, then it was us. And any manager who turns on the fans is on borrowed time. So as you can tell, a standing ovation on saturday from me

“ and it does appear his biggest defence is "Remember I bought Grant Holt", which is fair comment. bit like Sweenet Todd saying "fair cop guv, but be honest, the pies where lovely" i know a few will boo, and fair enough, but we should move on really, no harm done. as mentioned above, stuffing stockport would speak volumes.

Agree with jaytee. He will just be another manager for me - I can live with the fact he thinks I'm diabolical - a fault on his part I feel rather than mine.

Well BOOOOOO all you like
I just hope it does not come and bite us back in the bum - I still stand by what I said at the season that we would defeat promotion hopefuls Bradford but lose at Stockport.
Paul Simpson will expect boos.
It's too easy to boo. I think the sarcastic approach like Man U do and glorify him will startle him and he won't know how to react is best.
The intelligence of sarcasm gets the sub-conscience more than bullying.

There is nothing to be gained by booing him.
This is a vital game. I hope all our efforts are concentrated on getting a result.

Can't see the point of booing him Surely getting behind the lads and encouraging them to a win makes more sense than venting your spleen on an ex-manager who just wasn't a success. I will be cheering Salop and not booing

No point in booing the bloke or giving him abuse
I think Id only do that if the bloke deserted us, slagged off the club or was involved in something dodgy which hurt the club.
I pray to god though that if we do go 1-0 up that we dont get the "Simmo whats the score". 2 minutes to go when your 3-0 up, fair enough but other than that

I just want us to win. Obsession with a past manager is pointless.
No problem with any witty chanting but not witless, mindless stuff. Booing and abuse would just be panto and make us look petty and small minded.

Well, in the end I don't think he copped too much mindless abuse, but there was hell of a lot of banter flying his way in the second half, which no doubt annoyed him a lot.
I actually felt pretty sorry for him by the end as he was embarrassed in front of his fans and employers today, both by his team's performance and the away end's reaction to it. He was left sat silently in the dugout looking thoroughly deflated whilst the away end repeatedly the p**s with the "let's all do the Simpson" stuff (which was admittedly very funny).

Difficult to tell Liam with all our cheering, and the fact must Stockport fan had gone... but did they boo Stockport off? As for all the banter, was spot on, a bit of booing from people who wanted to, and then generally funny mocking which was warrented and most of all funny.... It could have been much worse for him... and considering its likely he might have been sacked by the next game that might be it
