www.shropshirestar.com/sport/2010/08/26/paul-simpson-recalls-happy-shrewsbury-town-time/We all know that we've got Stockport this Saturday, where our recently ex-manager, Paul Simpson manages now. But the question is; will we give him a warm reception or a load of boos? He stated in todays Shropshire star, that he had fond memories in managing Shrewsbury, and expects a warm reception by the town fans on Saturday. However, he also said he wouldn't care if he does get booed. Even though, Last season was a major disappointment in not building on that lost against Gillingham in the play-off final. Also, blaming the fans at some points of the season, for booing the team. However, he did some good for Shrewsbury, when he saves us from relegation. Also, in his first whole season where we beat the likes of Wycombe and Gillingham 7-0. And getting us to the play-offs at Wembley. So, I'm just going to think of the good times under the reign of Paul Simpson and forget the bad times under his reign. Therefore, I'm not going to boo him at Stockport and give him a good reception Any other views?

Plenty of boos coming from my direction.
And I should imagine many others.
Oh, and by the way, he didn't save us from relegation.

He made a pig's ear out of what was a substantial playing budget by League 2 standards, I'll personally never forget his 'diabolical' slur towards us, and it is that I will be reminding him of on Saturday, not a good manager and I will stand by those comments whether Stockport beat us or not on Saturday.

He didn't get a good reception whilst he was here, so can't imagine why he'd get one now. I don't particularly care either way, as long as we win. It'll be a tough game.

If folk are going out of their way to boo him I'd really like to understand why. Not as if he didn't try his best to get us up, not as if he fliped the club over in any way. Just one of these things that it didn't work out for him and Town...

I agree, but I am sure many will be booing - personally I would rather they ignored the fact it is Simpson and just got behind the team, but I won't be there so I won't get to hear it They seem likely to struggle this season, so just come away with the 3 points like Macc

If things are going our way, then a little sharp pointed banter in Simpsons direction is fine, and to be expected, but Gratuitous Booing from the start will just make us look very poor , in my opinion..

Agree with Dawley. I'd sooner cheer Turner. I think Simpson is a decent enough bloke, but I'll never forget his 'diabolical' slur at the supporters after the Darlo game.

Personally I think to boo Paul Simpson is out of order, everyone is entitled to their opinions and in response to "'diabolical' slur towards us" which was aimed at a minority anyway, I would sat 2 wrongs don't make a right, and booing will not show Town supporters in good light. Unfortunately I think some fans will boo and Paul Simpson will receive a mixed reception from Town fans. I am a big GT fan and we are fortunate to have Graham Turner on board again, but lets remember he is yet to succeed this time around.

Some Town fans need someone to boo, just like some seem to be quiet on here at the moment, because there is not much to moan about.

Wouldn`t boo if i was going. Yes he failed to get us promoted, but he`s a decent enough chap when i met him and always straight with you. Wish him well in the future.

Looking at the positive start we've made, you'd have to be a pretty small minded and bitter person to think about abusing Paul Simpson. Certainly not the best manager but certainly not the worst. Just move on.

Bit of compassion wouldnt go amiss IMO......
One of his biggest critics and he couldnt leave us early enough but I believe he tried his best, just made mistakes and wasnt very good at his job.
Something that most of us on here could no doubt have said about us at one time or another.
No boos from me but each to his own........

in 15+ years as a Town fan through thick and thin, last season I actually questioned whether I still supported the club as I couldn't bring myself to support a club under Simpson's reign. The Staines game was the final straw and ok I had a few issues with the club but I think Simpson destroyed the club temporarily and Wycherley's hesitation in getting rid of him didn't help either. Yeah there were some memories, Gillingham 7-0, Bury away in the playoffs but I couldn't warm to the man. To be fair a great media man, but on a personal level pretty clueless and the form of Jake Robinson amongst others this season shows the man's man management skills were nowhere near up to scratch. The only man hated by pretty much every club he's managed. Preston and Blackpool dont have a lot of common ground but even they are united in the same resentment for Simpson. Never the man's fault, first it was the players, then it was us. And any manager who turns on the fans is on borrowed time. So as you can tell, a standing ovation on saturday from me

Apparently I am a Hereford Supporter without a sense of humour, so naturally I will be applauding Simpson for sinking Shrewsbury so low last season

I'll ignore him. Stockport fans might not in a few weeks. Sounds about right. Clearly I wasn't a fan, but I won't be giving him any grief unless he does something deliberately provocative either between now and kick-off or during the game.

Shouldn't get booed or applauded I don't think, tried to do a job, it didn't work out, end of story.
Nice guy who still lives local to Oswestry, always willing to chat, I don't understand the hatred towards him, he wasn't exactly Ratcliffe standard!

I will not boo, I'm sure he wasn't a poor manager on purpose.
However, I don't suppose many will be applauding so the main sound he will hear from the away end is booing.

I doubt that I will find the need to boo him.
I might, however, dissolve into hysterics if Stockport make their first tactical substitution around the 60 minutes mark.
