Out of some of the players we've watched over the years, who has not impressed to the extent of where they have ended up and done better than we ever expected? Gilks- Premier League with Blackpool, looked a solid keeper but never had him down as a Premiership Keeper Hibbert - Good signing for most League 2 sides but maybe punching above his weight in a Promotion pushing Peterborough side? Anymore?

Dave Edwards being in the Prem and a Wales regular.Always thought he'd reach the Championship (hoped it would be with us) but his progress has been a pleasant surprise especially as he left us for Luton and look where they are now.
Rory Fallon playing in a World Cup.

Yeah Rory Fallon definitely up there. Always thought he was pants when he was here. Surprised he has scored so many goals at a higher level.

O'Neil Donaldson was released by us and ended up in the Prem with Sheff Wed - think he might have even scored against Liverpool once?!

The late Jim Holton. Typical bustling centre half, who as one commentator stated "He was a no nonsense player who could only kick the ball directly in front of the way he was facing" (might have been Hugh Johns).
That did not stop him from winning caps for Scotland and making many appearances in the top division with several clubs.

No but when they went up I was sure a new goalkeeper would be high up on their list of buys, he didn't seem like a regular number 1 for the Premier League

Definitely Fallon for me, seemed to go from strength to strength after his spell with us but never really impressed me.
On a related note the football league show this week seemed to just be a compilation of ex shrews doing well! In the Bury vs Northampton match the summariser managed to mention 4 all in a row... Worrall, Skarz, Lowe and Guinan.

I was amazed at the success Currie had having left us for Barnet.
Not a Salop player: but Sam Saunders has had an awesome career since He was at telford when everything went pop.
And although it may go against the grain: I don't think many of us when singing "England's number one" at Joe Hart really had anything but the vaguest hope that by this stage of his career he would actually, literally, be England's number one. We knew he was good. We knew he was miles off anything we had seen for a while. We made some fairly bold statements about him. But not many of us hand on heart knew he would do so well so soon.

Id agree with that Throb about Hart. When he was being sent out on loan to Tranmere and Blackpool and City were spending lots of money I expected him to slide back down the league. Amazed at what has happened.
Edwards is another one. I didnt think he would be good enough for the Championship, let alone the Premiership
Id written off Tierney as not being good enough for L1 and I fully expect the same to happen with Langmead & Hibbert!
Mark 'Bomber' Williams did well for himself with limited ability in my opinion.
Not surprised about Currie, undoubtedly had talent but think he was far more happier down in London.
The most bizarre signing I thought was Steve Anthrobus going to Dario Gradi's Crewe.

Going back a few years, full back Peter Wall.
Arthur Rowley seemed not to rate him, he played only when Pat Wright was unavailable, but I thought he was better than Wright.
Rowley sold him to Wrexham where he was spotted by Bill Shankley and became a member of the great Liverpool squad for many years.

Will always remember the goal that he scored against Bury in 1993 in less than 20 seconds - Town kicked off, the balls came back to Kevin Summerfield who kicked it forward over the head of O'Neill who lobbed it into the Bury net from just over the centre line.

I know it was a fair time ago now but pretty sure O'Donaldson was near/ just inside the Bury penalty area when he guided the ball in not 30 yards backwards of that...

Carl Robinson. Utterly appalling footballer, amazed he stuck around the higher echelons of the game for aslong as he did.
