Could not see the traditional thread so here we go!
What a game as a front 6 at times we looked unplayable. As a back five we looked dodgy as hell at times. Result crazy match crazy score and one of the best games at the new ground. Great stuff
More please BBC

Sensational. If I was an opposition manager, I would know my game-plan against Shrewsbury
- Gung ho for the first 30 mins, hoping for a 16 goal lead - After that defend for your life
I thought the referee was by and large a disgrace. The 3000-odd Town fans created a sensational atmosphere, thought that was helped by the occasion. Cleaned up the bookies, with a Shrews win, Robinson anytime goal, Harrold anytime goal and more than 2.5 goals. Over the ****ing Moon!
Can't be arsed to start a new thread, so:
a) When's the draw for round 2? b) When's the second round tie?

believe it or not i said at 0-3 if we get a goal now we are back in it and no sooner said than done
i felt we were the better side and unfortunate to go a goal down 3-0 was just wrong and unlike us for many seasons went about putting it right
great game
i cant think of a better comeback for us than that
i can think of 3-0 down and drew a few times but never 3-0 and won im sure someone will remember one

Some more observations. Yes ref was a little like Saturday certinly favoring the "bigger" team. Booking disley was one of the worst booking I have ever seen. Smith in goal, Christ he does not like coming off his line!! Can't judge him really don't think he could do much about the goals. Sadler, confident and solid. Same can be said of raven, more so as there are a few times when ainsworth forgets to track back (not as bad as the hump mind!) certinly an improvement on holdon and scs. Centerback is a total worry, sharpes looks all over the place at the moment! I'm sure he will come good though. Odonnel was much better tonight and they are both a big threat from corners and free kicks. Ainsworth is unbelivable! Most exciting player we have had at the club for a long long time and he had end product and a football brain Wright allway running and putting inna big shift, and when we break hea there. Think for the second game in a row I'm praying for a extension to the loan. Disley - he's back, and playing like the man that bothered us so much at wembly. Showed he can do the defensive role tonight also!! Macalister...like paul Murray on crack solid, 10 yard simple passer who breaks stuff up and gets us going. The red card on Saturday has been great for us, unlike the other macca he does not need to be carried. Harrold- the big man just gets stuck in and holds the ball up well. Now add to that a leathel headed finish and you have the big Striker we gave wanted since holty. Robo- the confidence player with bags full of it at the moment. One of the moments of the match was a clever dink pass just before half time for wright which created a chance from nothing. All in all you gotta love the start to season and the spirit to fight once with 10 men and once from 3-0 down. That's all I want and if this keeps up GT is heading for ledgendary status with a couple more generations of town fans Ps I reserve the right to moan and boo later in the season

Didnt manage to make the game tonight, as i was working, but i managed to persuade them to put it on the radio
When we were 3-0 down everyone was taking the p**s, but i said that we would get back into it and win 4-3, and their faces when we scored the fourth was priceless.
Great result and great game from what i have heard.
Our midfield and forwards seem to be unstoppable at the moment, and i cant wait for the rest of the season, i really belive this is our year

Fantastic night, what a match and more importantly what a comeback. Started off ok, defence was dodgy to begin with and let 3 goals in but they got better as the game wore on and defended well at times during the second half. Credit goes to our midfielders and attack, got 4 goals against a good league one side, which was a big ask, but they managed it. Atmosphere was awesome again, after we scored our first goal we made all the noise till the finish. We were really behind the player tonight. Well done Town.

Even when we were 3-0 down we didn't panic and the heads didn't go down. The players carried on with excellent short passing and patient build up as if they always knew they were going to win, never resorting to desperate long balls.
Was a massive credit to Turner, the team looked like they had played together for years and the work rate and teamwork was top drawer.
The defence will take time to adjust to each other but the talent and desire of each our new back four is obvious.
Wright and Ainsworth are both top class, and what the **** has Turner done to Robinson?
Harrold does everything you can ask of him and lead the line brilliantly.
Great header from O'Donnell.
Brilliant night.

Quite simply unbelievable.
I'm only 25, but I doubt I'll live long enough to see the next time Town come from 0-3 down to win 4-3.
Proud and delighted to say the least, although I am slightly worried about our defence. Still, at least it looks like we're going to see some excitement and goals this season, which will be so, so welcome after the utter s**te of the last 14 years or so, since Fred Davies left.

Yes it was a great game if you ignore the first 35 minutes when the defending was woeful. No doubt last seasons team would never have come back from 3 down.
Before everyone gets too excited it is worth noting that only 3 of last nights starting lineup for Charlton started on Saturday. If a 2nd division side gets 3 up they are likely to become far more defensive than Charlton did.
Last night particularly in the first half we missed McIntyre, we failed to close down Charlton in midfield which resulted in the third goal. Without McIntyre midfield lacks bite.
For all the talk about Ainsworth, Wright and Harrold the player who has stood out for me in the first two games has been O'Donnell last night he was immense. I hope GT is already starting negotiations to extend his contract.
Positives:
Never say die attitude; Continued to play football even 3 down. Number of 60 yard passes more than in all home games over last two years.
I am still of the opinion that we are one player short of a playoff team and maybe 2 away from automatic promotion candidates.

Fantastic night. One of the most exciting games I have ever seen. Same as the Bradford game really, awful for 20 mins, before ripping the opposition apart in the second half. Negative- Defence looked dodgy in the first half, will improve with more games though! Positives- Never gave up Macallister, battled all game and broke up so many attacks Fantastic atmosphere in the second half

Same as the Bradford game really, awful for 20 mins afraid i have to disagree with this. we had a few defensive lapses, but our football was superb throughout the game and the 3-0 scoreline was an absolute joke. amazing night.

I guess awful was a bit harsh, I guess what I mean is they were struggling defensively and passing wasn't quite coming off with a few miss placed passes. But like I said, I thought they were fantastic for the rest of the game.

Guess i fell into the trap of judging too quickly then. Couldn't get into all of this hype as it happens so often with the Town. But, I was proven wrong last night and we turned over a league 1 side. I'm starting to believe that this could be our season. We'll have to see what we're like away from home first though before I really believe we'll win ... Well done Town!

What a match.
We are playing football like it should be played (apart from a few defence issues) The passing was sublime at times playing triangles and cross field balls that go to the wingers feet. Wingers who attack the full backs and get decent crosses in. Leathal finishing and numerous opportunities we are in for a superb season judging by what i have witnessed so far.

Pleasing on the eye and produced a great result, I understand the comments on the defence but felt they adjusted to the Charlton tactics and speed, and second half did not let them get the ball over the top to cause us problems.
I need to see them a little more including Smith in goal to form a more accurate opinion
All in all very excited about the seasons prospects and McAllister is one heck of a find.
Ainsworth is outstanding and they all are working so hard for one another what a difference from last season!

I missed the Bradford game
But last night was amazing. I can't recall a gane where we played so well, it certainly didn't happen under Simpson. Best game I've seen for a long time and most exciting since Bury away in the playoffs.
First up amazing how well we played and how entertaining it was. At 3-0 down we were playing well! Still played the same way.
Obvious what the difference was from last season, genuine pace. Wright and Ainsworth are nippy as hell and will cause teams all kinds of problems.
Secondly we swap play and counter attack so well. Wright and Ainsworth were often playing cross field passes to one another which was hard to defend against. At times Charlton went and put 2 men on Ainsworth which just meant someone else was free. There's no way that teams will be able to put 2 on Ainsworth and 2 on Wright.
Robinson and Harrold link up well. Great header from Harold for his goal following brilliant wing play by Wright and Ainsworth, my goal of the night.
Little bit worried about the defending but there are so many new players it make take time for the understanding to come, but then again it was against division 1 opposition.
Just before kick off I heard the charlton team and thought an upset would happen and put £5 on it at 2/1. At 3-0 down i thought game over......just brilliant.

Number of 60 yard passes more than in all home games over last two years. I am still of the opinion that we are one player short of a playoff team and maybe 2 away from automatic promotion candidates. It's clear the defence needs work but, in possession, we were on top from the start. On the balance of play, we shouldn't even have been 0-1 and 0-3 was unreal. I've read 1 or 2 Charlton posters say they shouldn't have been 3 up and it wouldn't have seemed so bad for them if they hadn't been. I know Charlton changed their team a lot but that was still a squad that's aiming for automatic promotion from League 1 and there were some good quality players in there, like Martin and Abbott, and they brought on Doherty and Reid, who's just come from West Ham and is highly thought of. We're competing below their level and you'd expect any team taken from their first team squad to be capable of beating a lower league team. We outplayed them and, if the defence was more settled, we could have won more comfortably. I agree about O'Donnell - at times last night he was like a lower league Rio Ferdinand. Very tidy and composed, very skilful. I think he was at fault for one of the goals though! I don't know how you make the 1 or 2 players short judgment at this stage. We don't know how the season will pan out with injuries etc but we've got good players in reserve. Put it this way, I can't recall seeing a team in League 2 that could play the way we are at the moment and yet wasn't capable of at least making the play offs. I understand and share your caution and I know the season's hardly started. But I'm excited too and enjoying the moment. Playing like this, and hopefully improving as the squad settles down, this team is certainly capable of promotion. I'm looking forward to seeing whether we do.

Spot on. of course we should not get carried away and we won't walk anything. But we're night and day from last season in terms of our pace and passing. Whatever happens it is going to be fun to watch.

I hope GT is already starting negotiations to extend his contract. Their third goal came about because Disley mis-controlled the ball just in our half. I believe at the time Disley was our deepest laying midfielder. Sharps/O'Donnell failed to close the goal scorer down. O'Donnell has been far from immense, if he was immense he wouldn't have been caught out by the ball over the top three times, one of which resulted in Charlton's first goal. He's been OK, but I'm sure he'll get better. The 4 goals we've conceded thus far have all come from errors, lets hope they cut them out. I agree we are a player short and I think it might be another central defender we're needing.

Tbh, regardless of results, that's all you can really ask for. We all know we're never going to win the Champions League, and while it's always nice to do relatively well, the fact we're never going to be challenging for the major honours means the joy of supporting a lower league club comes from an enjoyable, "proper" football experience. Last season that was totally absent, but this season it looks like it might just be back.
