the opportunity to cross enemy lines last night and watched TNS play Anderlecht at Wxm. Good game spoiled by one Vuvuzela.
To begin with it it was fun, then it got annoying, then it became too much to bear. I could not believe how much noise one of these dam things make, even more surprisingly it was being blown by a child!, it was that fact that stopped it getting ugly.
Prior to last night I had no real issue with them, but these things need banning now. I for see real problems if they are allowed to be used in the Meadow.
Did any appear at the Meadow last night?

I've bought one for all 3 of my kids - they will be using them in block 9 this season - the club has already told me it is fine.
why would you want to stop children having fun and adding to the atmosphere?
I believe a large number of STFC branded ones are being priced up by the club to give to the family stand - a great move in my opinion.

Dave, I hope that is correct.
More the merrier - god forbid the noise levels are raised.
And for those who hate them - why not try singing/chanting above the noise?

Yeah it is correct, just checked an email I got from the club last week: ".....and whilst the club have agreed a purchase order for 600 STFC branded Vuvuzelas, Wayne Indup, from VUVUK has confirmed that the larger the numbers we can order, the lower the price. As an example, if we had a situation where 1000 STFC fans purchased a Blue and Amber trumper, the unit price would be as low as 50p. The club selling these at £3 would maximise profits and create a "cauldron" atmosphere as witnessed in one of the most exciting World Cups in living memory..." As I said before, my kids love them, and whilst I hate the noise they make in the house, in the Greenhous meadow they could be brilliant if enough of us encourage it. Well done STFC - some positive news amidst the complaints and moans.

Block s8 and 9 is cited as the only area where vuvuzealas and drums are allowed. The club recommends that those who want to sing but do not want vuvuzealas should relocate to blocks 18 and 19 which will be vuvuzeala free blocks.

Very sensible suggestion and hopefully one which is taken on board - we have never filled the ground so we can offer a choice at present.

I don't think the noise of the vuvuzealas in that area would effect the rest of the ground too much, i know my lads got one and always blowing the damn thing, to be honest I think the novelty would wear off by the end of august anyway.

There's so much wrong with that sentence in my opinion Living memory is a bit strong I grant you but you can't argue with the sentiment. it is pretty clear that Vuvuzelas are going to be out in force at all league matches this year. i'm impressed that STFC have been pro-active in trying to get the majority of us to buy one.

I got a decent price on 200 blue ones, I will be selling them at £2-50 each outside the stadium complex at the Bradford game. I won't be making much profit but all profits will go towards a new flag.

My opinion on vuvuzelas has already been expressed on here.
Shall we just keep it polite and say that the views of DaveG and myself are about as far apart as it is possible to go.
Am very disappointed indeed that the Club seem to be actively encouraging their use.
They effectively ruined the atmosphere of what I think most people would say was anyway one of the most disappointing World Cups ever in terms of the quality of the games.
If DaveG genuinely thinks that that was one of the most exciting World Cups in living memory then I am afraid his judgement is seriously open to question.

The matches were mediocre at best and the atmospheres were ruined by the vuvuzelas . I will campaign and continue to moan ( even excessively ) to get these truely awful plastic headache creators banned .

I think its fantastic that vuvuzealas are going to be allowed in the Greenhous meadow, every home game will be a magnificent occasion if this happens. Brilliant:)

Well we will see who is right. Prior to last night I had no problem with the idea of them but last there is no doubt the noise did nothing but annoy many people around them (I would say the majority)
I want a great atmosphere as much as anyone but I fear there will be very many people who will be annoyed if they have their enjoyment spoiled by the incessant din. If they are used after a goal to celebrate no problem, anymore and they beocme incredibly annoying.
Lets not forget it not like the good old standing days where if you did not like the air horn you moved away from the area.
Those that love the idea of them may find reality a little different, hope I am wrong............there may be trouble ahead.

Brilliant:) Just wait till you have 2/3 of the vuvu's blowing down your ears . You will certainly change your tune very quickly and I for one will have the pleasure in saying ' I told you so ' . or Maybe the noise will go in your one ear and out the other without anything there to stop it going through !

I note most premiership clubs have now banned them. Trust our lot to see £ notes first (if its true the Club shop is selling them).
If people think that incessant drone creates atmosphere your wrong, its just an unpleasant noise.
I remember when we used to sing songs and clap hands, things are changing for the worse if we need a vuvuzela to create an atmosphere.

If the club bans them then so be it but having experienced them first hand I can say they DO add to the atmosphere and the experience. Very sad that clubs have banned them but that's kiljoys for you

This is exactly my point, you will have people with extreme opinions on this and possibly extreme actions.
The man that has just spent £3 on his toy will want to blow it, the man who has just paid £19 to watch the game without his hearing damaged may well object. Some people, like me will probably put up with it and hope it goes away, cursing gently.
Other will not be as tolerant and may well end up sticking the £3 toy up some ones a**e!
So ban them now before the two extremes clash. We have survived a long time without them. This is not being a killjoy it is recognizing that these thing will divide opinion and may well cause trouble. Thats why most sensible clubs are banning them.
