I'm fliping livid!!! and Mr Turner I won't 'forget about this in a few weeks' you absolute !!! Didn't want you here in the first place but gave you my support, this has put you back to zero, w##ker!!!

I think this was an excellant decision to pull out of this tin pot cup. To stay in it and its stupid sub rules could risk yet more injury to players and jepodise Town'season.

feel for you mightyshrew, saying that i think the decision to pull out was the right one, GT obviously feels we have more to lose than gain if we played tomorrow. seems like the whole thing turned into a farce in the end.

I appreciate your effort and outlay, maybe a polite letter to the Club explaining what happened will pay dividends.

Yeah can I say just I posted this from my phone as soon as I found out so was heat of the moment. Ok now breath... Calm lol. Right having thought about it, from a footballing point of you I actually understand and see the logic but... I'm just so disappointed!!! Was last min decision last night to come down, 4 hours on the M5, really looking forward to tomorrow having won, today. At the end of the day the 2 games in 2 days argument was there before we entered the tournament so why make the decision now once us fans are here.

I think we're cutting our nose off to spite our face over the subs rule and this is our pay back

In wonder the effect of Blackpool and Leyton Orient being allowed four subs today had had on the decision.
I think the decision has mixed blessing. You know the format of the tournament before you start. The injuries havent helped, and everyone will be moaning come two weeks today if we've lost to Bardford with a team of kids. However, having been invited to the tournament, part, and then have the chance of facing Premiership opposition, I would have played. Take it we wont get an invite next year, and we probably would accept any road.
Smacks a bit of high and mighty Shrewsbury Town, throwing dummies out of the pram, however the way GT communicated his reasoning would be a good lesson for his past incumbents.
Hope it doesnt affect realtions with the teams who hosted this, and of course Joma.
Wouldnt it have been great to have brough a trophy back??!?!
Sounds like the Town fans who went had a great time. Those who have gone down today/ tonight enjoy Blackpool v Havant, and hospitality that Bideford AFC show. Having experienced myself 13 years ago, it s fantastic.

Why has nothing been done about the abuse of the rules by Blackpool and others? In any other FA competition Blackpool would have been thrown out.
Doncaster were pulling out for the same reasons as Shrewsbury.

Thats interesting. A great little tournament seemingly ruined by poor management.

pulling out of the comp is bad sportsmanship
whatever reasons we have for moaning about the rules and sub and blackpool doesnt really make any sense when we make the tournament into a farce by pulling out
at the very least we could have protested by fielding the away supporters v blackpool and giving them the dispespect they deserved

Seems a bit strange to me. Surely we could've fielded 11 players even if they were made up from the reserves/youths ?
As much as I am looking forward to Turners new reign I think he's just thrown his dummy out of the pram here.
Surely the benefits of playing Premiership opposition outweighs the risk of potential injuries ? The younger lads would've loved it and surely footballers legs don't suddenly turn to glass because they've played a few games in a few days ? If so, I think Turner needs to ask himself if we've got a robust enough bunch of players.
I feel for the fans who've gone down there and look forward to Turners explanation of why we've pulled out.

Its not the first time this has happend with this competition, it happened last year i believe with Grimsby withdrawing and the end Luton played Montegnee in the final yet Montegnee never even won a game. Poor tournament management is what it is. I honestly think we would be better off hosting our own tournament with 4 teams. One from the Welsh Prem, One from the Scottish First and one from Ireland, norway or Holland it dunna matter. Play 2 semi final games on the Friday night and 2 on the sunday 3rd/4th place and a final. Simples and would be excellent for the town. Especially if it was added as part of the Shrewsbury International tournament.

The decision to pull out wasi believe made prior to the game so perhaps the decent thing to have done would have been to pull out on Thursday and allow R & D to play the semi...............
It may have been the correct decision for footballing / injury reasons but was made without any thought for the 50 + fans that had bothered to travel 360 miles (round trip) and spend £100's on supporting their team!
poor show STFC

Mighty Shrew (biggest misnomer ever). You have berated Turner since he was appointed (because your Dad told you he was rubbish...) so why claim you gave him your 'support'? Very much smells like an opportunity for you to Turner bash. So you arrived 10 mins AFTER we pulled out? What if we lost to Havant? Would you not have come down a few hrs earlier to catch todays match? Smells like BS to me.....

Nob if that had been PS you would have had a field day Unbelievable decision What grounds GT? You whinge about 3 subs and now you have the chance to play whoever you pull out of a final Never mind the fans who have travelled what about the chance of your players performing against Premiership opposition? Maybe you are saving them the embarrassment

Does seem strange to have entered a tournament but intend not to contest the final if we got there - presumably whoever orchestrated it didnt think we'd get to the final (with the planning of the cov game)?
The 3/5 subs thing is a problem, but shouldnt be enough to mean we quit from the final. After all, a game against Blackpool would be a sterner test than coventry (assuming strong XI played) so GT could have rested a few against coventry and/or mixed in some youth players.
Note to 'Fieldboy' - Not sure how much of a Hereford fan you really are (and if you arent then STFU and jog on) but either way you do yourself and HUFC a disservice by constantly attacking GT, he put a lot of heart (and cash!) into HUFC and his record there was good for what HUFC is!

Maybe you are saving them the embarrassment [/quote] Its been a long time coming but I have to admit to agree 100% with Jonah. If you enter a competition you should stay to the end unless you are knocked out. Surely if we were short of players some of the youth team could have been called on to bolster the team. The withdrawal has done only harm to the reputation of STFC and is a kick in the teeth for the fans who have made the effort to support the team.

Sorry for mighty, but you can't play that many games in such a short time.
Personally, I don't like musical chairs, so I wouldn't have gone anyway.

Have they suddenly changed the dates of the fixtures? NO So basically we knew exactly the schedule of events when we entered, so why pull out, IMO complete disrespect for the fans that have travelled down.
Perhaps Turner assumed we would have been knocked out before the final.
Very poor and hopefully not a sign of things to come.

GT did not know that the competition rules would change immediately they arrived. The other teams did not know either. Doncaster withdrew for the same reasons as Shrewsbury and it is rumoured that if Orient won the semi they would have withdrawn also. Blame the organisers/FA as the same thing happened last season. Some people learn by their mistakes but these lot evidently don't.
