Hart is the best keeper we have and because of that he should start. Simple.
Didnt really think much of that 2nd half save which Green pushed onto the post, as a keeper you should never been caught on yer near post anyhows. And he nearly was caught out.
Hart to start!!

An absolute howler from Green with no mitigating circumstances whatsoever. Getting your body behind the ball is one of the basics of goalkeeping.
As others have siad he was lucky with the shot he deflected onto the woodwork.
Personally though I would be surprised to see Fabio drop him for the Algeria game.

At least the Yanks wont be angry about the latest spill ! True, but at least Green's got a cap for his.... A Scottish mate of mine text me this am saying Green is Scotland's player of the year. There's irony in there somewhere.

I'm afraid Green's mistake was worse than schoolboy.
His body position was all wrong, and why he feels the need to lift his hands before putting them in a position ready gather the ball is beyond me??
This was not an isolated incident either for Green this season. There have been errors highlighted on MOTD on more than one occasion- something i can't recall being said of Hart?
Not just because of the obvious STFC connection, but in my opinion, Hart should have been number one choice for England. And if Capello had stuck to his own policy of playing those who are 'fit and in form', Hart should have been his number 1 too.
Personally, i would have gone with Hart as 1st choice, followed by Paul Robinson and David James as 3rd choice.
As for Green coming out and facing the media- so what? I was more disappointed that he and a number of other England players, made reference to the ball moving around?? WTF??? The ball was virtually on the ground when it got to him, having already bounced TWICE?!!
Does he deserved to be dropped?? YES he bloody well does. I made a similar sort of error in an important match which cost us the win and we only got a draw. Not only did i apologise to my manager and team-mates, i also refused to accept my wages for that match too- as well as expecting to be dropped- which is exactly what happened!! All it did for me, was to make me train harder and prove that i was worthy of the #1 spot.
And the save in the second half; any keeper playing at a decent level would be expected to make that save. It is goalkeeping suicide to be beaten at your near post, and that is one of the fundamental rules of goalkeeping. If he's not there to make that sort of save, then what is he there for?? He's just doing his job, although IMO, i think he could have done better with that?!
Someone also mentioned, that if he was to be dropped now, it would totally destroy his already low confidence. Sorry, but i for one don't want someone in goal that isn't 100% confident in their own ability anyway. Capello isn't employed to keep one person happy, or pander to someone's confidence. HE IS THERE TO WIN THE WORLD CUP FOR ENGLAND. If that means he has to be ruthless and drop someone, so be it. And the way that he avoided a direct answer when asked 'will Green remain as number 1'?, suggests to me that he is ready to be ruthless!! At least i hope he is?

Green was absolutely abysmal .
He has been so shocking even at club level that their fans have been trying to get rid of him all season !
The dope that Cappello is , is that he will still pick Green for the next game and if not he will still risk James over Hart .
If Cappello puts Hart in goal from the start then i will begin to have some respect for him .
How has he failed to see that everyone says that Hart is the best goalkeeper we have at the moment . Even the statistics prove that .
I expect another complete comedy of errors on Friday !

Let's not join the race to persecute the lad on account of one (albeit very costly) mistake, comparing the error to the performance of that clown Shaun Right-Footed, who has never had a decent game for England or anyone else, Green deserves a chance...........If it means Joe will get a start though, I take it all back...GET RID OF HIM!!!!

One shocking mistake. He's made numerous excellent saves after that. You England fans are far too bitter to realise that your team as a unit is poor and full of pre-madonna's! Rooney is as good as dog-s**t for England. Lampard hasn't even been in the game and your player who's been best for play-making is definately Hesky. Hart is a better keeper, but Green has the experience of pressure in bigger games so he has to stay. You watched a different game to me. He made NO good saves in the whole game. Yes, I know we are an average side, but that was the most basic error ever, and the same sort of thing Green has done this season many times for West Ham. He is s**t, and should never have been number one in the first place. spot on mate! The guy even looks scared when hes on the pitch. German goalkeeper today was 24 and they have no qualms about throwing him in and with he little he had to do he looked ok.Age/ experience when you are considering the right man for the job should be only small factors , if your good enough you are old enough , on attributes and ability Hart is way ahead give him the nod Fabio!

Paying for not giving Joe a proper chance inthe friendlies IMO. By that I mean, full games, and a few of them to gauge him not, 45mins here or there.
Dont let SWP and Lennon hide from their truely woeful contributions to football either. Two very blinkered players whose limitations were exposed massively on a global scale last night.
Thought Gerrard was industrious, Heskey surprisingly effective as target man, and Glen Johnson the only player to offer a regular threat.

Was amazed he started, would have gone for james myslef.
International community is behind Hart - go get them Joe although i feel Green will get another chance

I often think that Glen Johnson would do better at right midfield. I think Capello might have been tempted by three at the back if Ferdinand hadn't got injured. Anyway Barry back for the next game with Gerrard on the left I think. Out of James, Hart and Green, Hart has had the best domestic season and should have played more game than he has in the last 6-8 months.

Apparently Robert Green faced over 100 shots in training without conceding a single goal. He and Emile will now join the rest of the squad for further training.
