I know it's easy to say after the event but how the hell is Green even in the best three English gks, let alone number one? It's not like it's the first time he's ballsed up for England is it? I've just seen it again from front on and I swear I wouldn't have let that in. Tw@t

More importantly Hart in!
Then all we need is for Roland to phone City and check on their 'interpretation' of the international recognition clause.
Kerching....probably not.

I guess had he not had to take Milner off he'd have changed the gk. Probably for an injured James though Still, It's looking like the 500k is a little nearer cos pounds to bent ha'pennies, Green won't start the next match.

A dreadful mistake. And even before the error I felt no confidence with Green, he is very static and is not a remotely commanding presence in his box. The midfield is also a problem - is anyone playing in midfield apart from Gerrard? Lampard and Lennon did nothing.

One shocking mistake. He's made numerous excellent saves after that. You England fans are far too bitter to realise that your team as a unit is poor and full of pre-madonna's! Rooney is as good as dog-s**t for England. Lampard hasn't even been in the game and your player who's been best for play-making is definately Hesky.
Hart is a better keeper, but Green has the experience of pressure in bigger games so he has to stay.

I don't know if I should reply to this as I have a feeling I've been "hooked" but he only touched the ball about three times in the second half and one was a reflexive push onto the post. Well done all the same. Lets see how Herman gets on tomorrow evening.

He did well through qualifying and despite not having a great season for Wet Sham deserved to start this game.Whether Capello can drop him now is up for debate but if he is dropped then James will come in.

I can't think of any others? Against Belarus ? I may be wrong. I'm pretty sure his season at West ham hasn't been too good either but feel happy to correct me. If I remenber he got sent off against Belarus as last man keeper challenge, they happen unfortunately I'm not saying that Green is the best, good or whatever, I don't rate him, Hart or James are better options in my opinion. Scapegoating Green though is vindictive and pointless, cheap shots like twit and t**t are unnecessary, yes he made a mistake get over it, what would you have been saying if Hart had made that mistake, cos they can happen to the best of players

We've just bossed a game we should have won comfortably.

Yes because nobody ever makes mistakes do they? Every player no matter how good they are make mistakes. Its just unfortunate that it had to be under these circumstances. Apart from that Green was perfectly solid.
Anyway I love how everyone is using him as a scapegoat. England should have been a fair few up by then especially considering how much they were dominating. I'm sorry but if you have to rely on a 1 goal lead for 86 minutes with that much quality in your squad against a team like the USA then you don't deserve the points.

Have we really got that much quality though? The most talented player never showed up till after the hour and then got kicked all over the park and Gerrard and Lampard started well and faded as usual. We won't win it as we don't have the players,we were lucky not to concede more as Carragher was given the runaround by Altidore,if Carra is the best we can produce at the back then we are in serious trouble as he is a liability. Also if the best player in an England shirt tonight was Heskey (which he was) it shows we are in trouble.

This is what I was getting my wires crossed about Yes mate I can. A goalkeeper who can't put his foot through a ball on a perfect surface? Absolutely yes I can. Seriously, when was the last time you saw a blunder like the one tonight that you saw at Salop's level? Even at County level? It was shocking and really, it's time that Joe was given his chance. He may well make a mistake or two but have you ever, EVER? Seen him make the type of mistakes highlighted on this thread?

Oh dear.
There cannot be a more better time for Joe to get his hands on the jersey - surely?
I think Green might end up like Carson did, after his blunder against Croatia that could possibly finish his international career. Remind me why Paul Robinson didn't travel despite having a very good season at Blackburn? Not only has he had a better season domesticly than Green, he's 10x better than him anyway!

2 shots on target green scored one and hit the post with another not sure if the 2nd was a good save or almost another howler More a case of ball to hand than a good save with the parry onto the post and if he had conceded there it would almost certainly have been curtains for RG and South Africa 2010.
