Heard whispers it is a Shrewsbury fan who got stabbed. Correct. In fact, not just a Town fan - the victim used to be a regular B&A poster.

That is just a very effective way of criminalising large swathes of young men. The problem of knive-carrying needs to be tackled at the core. Enver Solomon, deputy director of the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies at King's College London: "It's clear that incarceration causes immense social and economic damage to individuals and their families, and as a result it's a crime generator. "People go to prison and go on to commit many further offences. Prison will never be an effective crime-control tool because the evidence clearly demonstrates that it actively creates or compounds the factors that contribute to offending."

Would you advocate public flogging at Oteley Road 20 mins before KO as a deterrent or an eye for an eye ? It maybe old fashioned but Prison is an option that is soft and too easy we should go back to hard labour as well so they work off their crime and it provides a "community" service to boot. No time for Crims or their ways pack em all off to Afghanistan or Lithuania and let em sort them selves out give them Nothing

"No time for Crims or their ways pack em all off to Afghanistan or Lithuania and let em sort them selves out" Do you mean some sort of prisoner exchange programme, so we get Lithuanian and Afghan criminals and they get ours? Interesting suggestion. No? Surely you can't mean that we're somehow superior and get to dump our unwanteds on other nations!? Why would you think that?

He is ok, will make a full recovery, got stabbed twice in the back And presumably was there as he was a willing participant in a gang fight? In which case I have absolutely no sympathy with his situation. Having seen someone killed in a punch-up, I believe if you are willing to organise and take part in these things, you take what you get. Obviously, if the information is incorrect about the nature of the stabbing, he has my best wishes.

This thread has shown what hypocriotical judas twits this board become I haven't become one.My stance on knives has been the same for a long time.I don't care who is involved, anyone carrying one should get 5 yrs minimum. Hope this lad is ok,know nothing of the circumstances but even if he was fully involved in the fight i hope he is ok.

mrbunny, you never said what you think about the (likely) potential of criminalising young men (and women) for the rest of their lives by slinging them in jail for 5 years for carrying a knife?

mrbunny, you never said what you think about the (likely) potential of criminalising young men (and women) for the rest of their lives by slinging them in jail for 5 years for carrying a knife? Why are they carrying a knife in the first place? Serves them right if they get caught and are stuffed. Anyone carrying a knife needs punishing,if you can't see that then you are a very strange person.

mrbunny, you never said what you think about the (likely) potential of criminalising young men (and women) for the rest of their lives by slinging them in jail for 5 years for carrying a knife? do they not criminalise themselves by taking a knife out onto the street...? which is a criminal offence, if I recall...
