But what else can they do? Admit it was wrong to put all their eggs in one basket? Admit that it was an error of judgement? or try and keep some dignity? To be fair discussing the rights and wrongs of the past won't help now and we can only guess what private thoughts by those involved so closely may be now.

You obviously dont tho' The disrespect sown to Canvey for starters was amazing! As of next season canvey will probably be a bigger fish in the Conference than Telford. They'll have more money to spend, be on an upward vibe (which did wonders for Aldershot, and probably get roughtly the same gates as you. Their ambitions will be greater than just to rebuild and survive. And before you argue, yes they are getting a new ground. Yet quite a lot of you dont realise this

Saying that, We can still mathematically get automatic promotion, and I will settle for nothing less, Quinn is a footballing messiah and I will win the lottery this week ;D

Yet quite a lot of you dont realise this i havent shown disrespect to canvey, they were better than us full stop there ground is crap and yes theyre getting a new one, but when you visit them next year and they still have the same toilets they have now (4 portakabins for everyone!) then come back and sing their praises! also all food sold out by half time despite knowing how many we were taking you seem to generalise all telford fans or even people as one - all telford fans dont care, we all love andy shaw, we all disrespect canvey etc - its just not true another thing is canvey i think are in a similiar position to us in that are depending on jeff kings money?? i still dont know the issues you have rob

Lee, I think the problem is you addressed it with "WE get the message mate". I think Rob knows YOU do, but perhaps isn't used to thinking of you as royalty ;D Besides, if you don't let him rant here, he'll only do it somewhere else and likely get duffed up for his trouble

A copy of my post on the subject on "Buckschat":
On balance, I would say we are in a worse state now than when AS arrived.
He has built a fantastic ground, which we don't own. We have invested heavily in players we cannot afford on present gates. We have been run by one man, rather than a group of people. We have encouraged apathy in supporters by him under-writing the running costs.
However, He had a vision, which we all shared. He backed the club, we didn't follow. He thought he could do it himself, we let him.
The ideal scenario would have been that AS allowed other people to get involved and that those other people wanted to get involved. The club (as I see it) have never attracted people with real Business acumen from large companies. Local Businessmen run football clubs on the same lines as local businesses! This is fine if you run a car lot, fish & chip shop, taxis etc, but not much use to a large organisation like a football club.
My observations are of TUFC being a very unprofessional organisation, without the strategy (or at least not publicising it!) to improve the fan base and the business revenue streams. This, I believe is fundamental requirment in a club of our size.
I also see a lack of vision in out objectives and operations, which has surely been bred by the money being pumped into the club.
UNLESS THE ABOVE ITEMS CHANGE THE CLUB WILL NEVER MOVE FORWARDS
If we all had our time again, I am sure the fans would get more involved, AS would have opened up more and we would have got professional help to run the club, paying the required sums of money to get the correct calibre of person.
Hindsight, great isn't it???

Maybe I'm just a fairly soft-hearted woman- but it must be sheer heartbreak for the loyal core of Telford fans and I can't bring myself to rub it in. (However much I enjoyed Grinfish's funny rhyme to the tune of "You'll never walk alone")
You guys are showing a typically male lack of empathy. Right- imagine you're a Telford fan- or imagine how you'd feel if it happened to our club.
It's like a kind of bereavement- they must be shell-shocked. It takes a while to get to grips with some kind of perpective or a sense of reality.
They need time to "grieve", pick themselves up.Then they can move forward.
It's like-
1. "I can't believe it's happened"
2. Sense of unreality.
3. Sense of guilt- "If only we'd realised. If only we'd done something to stop it."
4. Coming to terms with reality- moving forwards.
Believe me- some people DID talk about Telford being "Bankrolled by their Sugar Daddy", on the Rivals Board. Did WE have the forsight to sense that the dream would all end in tears? I don't think so!
Don't get me wrong. I may feel sympathy for the fans- but it would be a big, big mistake for our TEAM to show them any mercy. No sweeteners- nothing! They've got to be utterly ruthless. Too much is at stake right now. They're looking to survive- we've got to be in the playoffs.
I also DO agree that it's no good expecting STFC fans to go to Telford matches. I've been to one- but, when my rescourses are limited- who do I want to give my money to? Right- Shrewsbury Town F.C. - not a rival team.
I think the best thing for Telford fans to do right now is to mount an all-out LOCAL campaign to raise the profile of TUFC and encourage local people to support it. I met a lovely couple when I went to the Duckshed. He'd been a supporter of the club when it was Wellington Town. It's people like this I feel for- and all loyal TUFC fans. But I'd say this to them:-
Look- WE had to pick ourselves up and look to the future. In fact, I can honestly say that it made ME more determined, in spite of work-related and other problems, to get to some matches- and to join SuperBlues - and bring my grandchildren to matches, buy things from the Clubshop..etc...
Let this misfortune make you even more determined that you WILL survive, you TUFC fans.
I hope

Wiggy
I do sympathise with the TUFC fans, I would be distraught if god forbid I was ever in thier position, and I understand the bereavement stuff, but some of these guys are singing the praises of the man who killed their club. Your stages of the grieving process are good, but they apply to the patient ( TUFC ) and the relative ( Fans ), they are not meant to be applied to the bloke who pulled the trigger ( AS ).

They don't see him as that. They (or some of them) see him as "the good doctor"- when really he's the "bad doctor". They put their faith in him- and it ain't easy to admit it when your faith is someone turns out to be misplaced. He got them this lovely new stadium. It's a bit like the "patient" has been cared for in a fantastic modern hospital, with excellent facilities- but then prescribed the wrong drugs- and been killed off!

As usual SNFC puts some perspective on it. Thats mostly what i was trying to get at.
Tottally agree, the supporters could have done more to get envolved, but know you are envolved I just hope that next year TUISA will have a role in running the club.
