I am very disappointed, no doubt about that. I remember, last year, hearing a presenter on Radio 5 say how much he would have liked Shrewsbury to be promoted. He wasn't a fan- just someone in the footballing world who happened to like Shrewsbury.
Im understood because that was one of the reasons I started actively supporting Shrewsbury when it would have been easier and far less expensive to support a local team like Wigan or even my husband's former team- Tranmere (though he's a laspsed supporter, been with me to matches me more times than he's been to Tranmere!)
It wasn't just that I am Shropshire born and bred and Severn water in the blood. I always liked visiting Shrewsbury with my Mum to go shopping- but that wasn't a reason either.
It was just a feeling that hit me. I just sort of "fell in love" with Shrewsbury after reading about them in 2002 in the Shropshire Star at my daughter's house in Hinstock! After the first visit to Gay Meadow, I'd really caught the bug!!! It has been a roller-coaster 8 years, and for so many of you- even a roller coaster 20 years or more!! I am a mere newbie by comparison.
Now- do I say "No, I don't want to go on Saturday?" I admit I am defintely NOT relishing it- the atmosphere will be tense and the sense that something might kick off doesn't really make the prospect inviting!!
To be strictly honest- it will be for friends. I have made some lovely friends- some of the best- and I rather go to see them! It's MORE than just the football.
When I was growing up in Market Drayton, Shrewsbury people had a reputation for being a bit snobbish and unfriendly- but that is SO untrue and I don't know what sort of Shrewsbury people they's been mixing with because I've had SO much help, advice, welcome and warmth from my fellow- Shrewbury Town supporters.
If I go it's to meet up with people who have now become friends. I am not, to be honest, relishing the thought of the match at all.
I am not so knowledgeable that I would claim to know what is wrong. I lack the knowledge of the technical side (only know I don't like hoofing- and I like to see a pacey winger go for it.) I tend to bring a teacher's insight to it- so it's also very psychological. Players may have potential but it takes a skilled manager to spot it, unlock it and develop it- which of course is obvious.
Lots of things obviously come into the equation and of course it's signings and the possibility that a needed player won't sign.
I also can't comment as I have no inside knowledge. I'm a "part-timer" anyway- and couldn't really afford to be otherwise- I make it to about a game a month.
I can only say I am going to be there next week out of loyalty and friendship.
I just hope things are different next season- but I honestly think, whatever happens, we'll need patience- the re-building won't produce an instant miracle.

I will be there next week a chance to say farewell and thanks to some players who have tried their best over the last 2 years. I genuinely believe that the players have been let down by the manager who has failed with his tactics, has failed to motivate the players and has never had a PLAN B.

Wouldnt go if I could but fortunately I cant anyway.
Seen enough utter dross for 5 seasons nevermind 1 already this term.
Put that with Simpsons dull, boring, defensive tactics and his ability to blame me for the problems I've had enough.
Will be back next season though even if he doesnt get sacked.
Taxi for Simpson.

I'm going next Saturday to say thanks to players such as Skarz and Button who have done their level best for us over the last few months even though they are not "ours." I appreciate the effort they have put in and hope they go on to enjoy good careers. I am also a little concerned about the likely atmosphere next week. As someone who refuses to shout negative comments I detest the way that some of the supporters hurl snide, cheap abuse at players and the manager.

Slackbladder.
the atmosphere at the Prostar may become decidedly worse when the fans have to watch a play off chasing team with a creative midfield player and a full back who no doubt will put our currently underperforming one to shame.

I'll be there but only because of the season ticket and going for a few pints with my mates before and after the game. If i'd have had to pay on the day then I wouldn't be bothered. Boring, boring football. That said, we'll win 1-0, play ok and Simmo will clap the fans at the end of the game from the dugout. Some of the fans will stay behind and clap as the team do a lap of the pitch but i'll be in the Brooklands by then. Terrible, terrible season that I just want to forget about. I want to see Simmo gone after the Vale game and then I can feel a bit more positive about the new season. On a more positive note i'd like to say that the support at home has been much better than last season with more atmosphere in 18 (think the sit anywhere in 19 rule and the acceptance that a few like to stand has helped). The away supporters deserve the utmost respect travelling long distances in their hundreds knowing they are probably going to watch a load of rubbish. Fantastically loyal.

hugely disappointed with things at the prostar at the moment from the players to the board. In all my years supporting them i have never felt so demotivated. There is nothing there at the moment that comes close to exciting me. So next saturday? Well depends on the weather really. If its nice, well **** em, me and the wife will find something nice to do. Go away for the day. If its not nice then we might as well use our last ticket. Really sad state of affairs.

I won't be going, sorry I just can't bare to do it, got no season ticket now and certainly won't be buying one to watch the complete cr@p served up for most of the season...add to that the fact that someone from STFC actually rang my mate in who's name my ST was bought, to complain about me swearing! The row in front has seats with no ST associated and for some reason we always get people who don't like any noise, they like their flask of soup etc. Okay I admit I did swear, I know when it was and will make no excuse for it, I did even apologise to them for swearing but obviously not man enough to accept it and went to the club to complain. If that's not bad enough for the club to ring and warn about future swearing is a bleeding joke. I am just falling out of love with this club that has been my absolute passion since I was boy!! I just can't stand the dross any longer. When we have a new manager and some ambition i'll come back but not going to waste any more hard earned on them, which is a shame with a big big year for MY club next season...

I'm still going with my mates, last chance of a few drinks and a game of pool this season.
Cannot wait for it all to be over - At least the dross served up by Jake King was excusable due to finances, Simpson has no excuses and should hold his head in shame for the shambles of a team he puts out every week.
NO PACE NO STYLE CANNOT SHOOT CANNOT TACKLE CANNOT PASS NO PASSION NO MOTIVATION NO BEN DAVIES
Simpsons teams have nothing worth paying hard earned money to watch.

I think the atmosphere will vary depending on what the score and performance . I think it will be an anti- climax of general resignment to a game with no meaning .
I will be there to say thankyou to the players i think have done their best .

No.
I wouldn't normally miss the last home game if I could avoid it, but I've travelled thousands of miles this season, I'm fed up and I'll be giving this one a miss and putting the time and money to better use.
I'll be there at Vale on the last day though.

Will be going but just for the chance of a drink with some mates as theres some that I only tend to see in the footy season so will be the last chance
If I didnt have a season ticket I definitely wouldnt be going and if the football is up to the same excitement levels as usual then I think its fair to say I could be leaving early. Although if the day is as nice as the Lincoln game then the beer garden may be a more tempting idea
Will be a bit of a strange atmosphere I think, Im not normally one that likes protests/booing/abusing own players/management but games are only way of showing Roland and the rest of the board that we arent happy with what has gone on

I will be going to show appreciation to the few players who deserve it
I shall wear black because it feels like I'm going to a funeral.
Simpson (and to a lesser extent Wycherley) have set me on the path to overcome a 25 year addiction to the Club. One game at a time....I know.
At least the good people of Shropshire will save a total of £1.5M (conservative estimate I reckon) on a futile trip to Wembley this year.
Just imagine what sort of team we could have assembled under an ASTUTE MANAGER if the £1.5M fans wasted on a "no-show" had instead been donated to povide a fans' war-chest to build a side of which we could all be rightly proud.

Definitely going next saturday, it all went wrong when that prat from Norwich arrived, surely Simpson should have played Bright instead of wasting money on that prat, at least Bright would have given his all as he wants to get in the World Cup squad. Simpson panic bought at the start of the season when Holt left just before the season started, give the man a chance let him get rid of the s**t at the end of this season and buy some decent players in the summer so that we get promotely automatically next season

Going to be selling fanzines so will go but aside from that wouldn't bother. Things must be bad for you to say that Ant. I won't even be listening on the radio this week, even if we were to win 3 or 4 nil, it's to little to late, so I think a round if golf is the order of the day.

I will be there
I don't imagine it will be tense.
I think everyone realises we won't make it now. That means we might either relax and play a bit better, or just roll over and let Morecambe have their points. Hopefully the first option

Yes I will be going as I have been going for a long time and would miss going, if I stayed away. Also I, like many Town fans, support Shrewbury Town FC and therefore will go to support them. I think if fans start staying away that sends a bad message to the club when most of the moans this season certainly revolve around the incompetency of the manager.
