is peoples problem? why are people so outraged at the way he celebrated. if he had signed for us from notts county and did the same infront of the notts fans we would have loved it. also a few people in block 14 shouting that Davies is s**t? how i would love to have Ben Davies back in our team, and luke rodgers for that matter, much better to have some fight spirit and character in the team than the bunch of limp spineless **** wits we are subjected to at the moment. what the hell has happened to us? we are dieing on our feet and unless someone gets rid of simpson soon, we will be well and trully stuffed. i am also starting to have serious doubts about the way we are being run from the very top. has rw been out of the country for the past 6 months? can he not see what is happening?

Agreed.
He does that somersault thing thing every week.
He hasn't done anything to us that he didn't do to Chester.
He rightly pointed out in his post-match interview that he received plenty of grief at Meadow Lane, so I wouldn't really have blamed him if he had decided to rub it in properly, which imo he didn't.
Much ado about nothing.

Cant say anyone round me was bothered about his celebration, i certainly wasnt
Most of the anger was aimed at Hughes and the permanent grin he has on his face

Agree, although maybe a little too much of a reaction as one county fan was chucked out for falling on the pitch
i felt last season that losing him would be a real loss and the worst thing that could happen to us. He's probably scored more goals this season than the rest of our midfield (including loanees) put together

Good luck to him with County in League 1 or wherever he ends up if they have to sell him.

There seems to be an outrage about Ben and his celebration from Shrews fans after the game, can't understand it myself he celebrated his goal in front of his own fans and to regular watchers of "The football league show" he does that celebration after every goal

Have to say, Ben has been massive for us, absolutely massive, a truly gifted player.
Luke has his good days and bad, it's thought he may be off to the US at the end of the season.
Our chairman said Ben is staying, along with Hughes. Doubt we'll keep Kasper though, unless RT really does pull off a miracle and sells him to a prem team with the agreement of a season long loan. That's what we're all hoping for!

I call Davies the lower league Beckham.
On paper neither players arent that special, have no pace, little skill, cant beat a man, cant tackle, cant head the ball. However both of them are excellent on set pieces and have a habit of scoring a lot of goals
And of course, both of them need to work on their diving......

Take away the heading and set piece taking and that is Cahill at Everton too.

He rightly pointed out in his post-match interview that he received plenty of grief at Meadow Lane, so I wouldn't really have blamed him if he had decided to rub it in properly, which imo he didn't. I think at both games he got a mixed reception. Today I thought the booing was definitely outweighed by applause, and Davies did seem to acknowledge that. Once the game started those that booed at the start continued to do so, which probably gave the impression that there was more ill feeling towards Davies than there actually was.

I do agree that he did get some applause at Meadow Lane, but there the majority of the vocal fans were hostile to him and he had abusive chants directed to him all game.
I'm not averse to seeing someone who deserves the abuse thrown their way getting it, but I think it was rather OTT.
Anyway, regardless of exactly how much he was targeted, I honestly don't think he was out of order in his celebrations today.
Regardless of who he was, he'd just scored a goal that was potentially decisive in the promotion race and also important in the title race (Dale still have to go to Meadow Lane), so he certainly had the right to celebrate.
The fact he annoyed a few boo-boys was probably just the icing on the cake.

Well at least its put an end to the " does booing improve a players performance" debate. Davies gets booed, gets fired up and wins the match for Notts County...the moral of this story is to boo more

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I don't remember that much in the way of abusive chants being directed towards Davies at Meadow Lane. There were chants along the lines of 'Davies, what's the score,' and 'should have signed for a big club,' but I don't recall sustained periods of abusive chanting.
However, I agree that Davies' celebrations weren't paticularly extravagent today. It's not like Davies is typically the sort to celebrate in a low key fashion anyway.

Davies plays for Notts County. Not bothered about him or his celebrations, to be honest. Didn't clap or boo him, or the firework kid for that matter.

think there were a few people in block 19 who were upset and had to be held back and restrained by stewards, but i think that just proves that there are some c**ks in block 19

It was hardly adeybayor or even that port vale idiot of a keeper I never even noticed, was too busy watching stewards single someone out
that fan should know the rules never venture onto the pitch on your own safety in numbers ;-)

Typical Davies went missing in the big games. I didn't notice him second half unless he was diving.

Ben Davies should be a Shrewsbury player.
He would have been had we offered him a contract in January.
He celebrated a good goal and frankly, the fact Neal & Simpson played the full 90 minutes just showed the gulf in class between last season and this.
We only have ourselves to blame. He should have been in a blue shirt.

Just goes to show that he really loves the club more than when he played for us. He never did celebrations like that or ran around the back of the goals. Can't remember him doing a proper celebration for us tbh. Well at least its put an end to the " does booing improve a players performance" debate. Davies gets booed, gets fired up and wins the match for Notts County...the moral of this story is to boo more If you are being booed by opposition fans it raises their game but not if booed by their own fans. It is completely different. Ben Davies has clearly been one of the best players in League 2 for a number of years. You can't be serious? Holt?
