I flew back from Prague last Monday. We were coming into land at Manchester Airport, about 250 feet up, wheels down when suddenly the pilot pulled the plane up to a 45 degree angle and put on full throttle so that we shot back up through the clouds. When we finally landed they told us that there had been another plane on the runway...
Hope that makes you feel better.

TOAO, I'm scared of flying! In fact, I'm ashamed to say I've never flown Got a chance to go to Annaheim, California with work - Conference on ADHD - but it was one month after the 9/11 twin towers thing- and I'm afraid I wimped out!! I've only ever travelled on cross-channel ferries. But BOTH my daughters have no problem with it at all. Last autumn, the youngest went to Holland- and the eldest went with her husband to Germany and Sweden. They say it's the only way to travel! Statistically, you've got more chance of being in a car crash on a local motorway. But Common Sense doesn't kick in when you're sh** scared, does it?!!!! My cousin's scared of flying but it doesn't stop her- she thinks the holiday destinations make up for the fear. She just has a few drinks!! My other cousin, who doesn't drink, thinks the best thing is "Dr Bach's Rescue Remedy" - that you can buy in Health Food shops- Herbal Remedy Section. She said she used that going up in a skyscraper in a lift- and she hates lifts!

I just love flying so long as I can get a window seat to watch the places go by. Flew to Florida last month with BMi from Manchester and the Inter Continental planes used now have a camera looking forward (Flight Deck view) as well as one below the fuselage looking down both of which can be accessed on the seat TV screen. It was fantastic having the "pilots eye view" when coming in to land.
Try not to think of flying as something to worry about but as an experience to be enjoyed.
Strangely , I'm scared of heights when it comes to things like fairground rides , step ladders etc but have now fallen for Hot Air ballooning which I now try to arrange a flight in whereever I go on Holiday - now that is a wonderful experience.
