Good afternoon all, Apologies for my break from posting over the wekend, but I have been working on the TUISA approach to raising money and also been trying to get involved on a more official basis. At this point it seems unlikely that the latter will come to fruition on my part, so I shall begin to post more frequently again, although in the main, about TUFC not other topics (Apologies all round). I would like to extend my thanks to all STFC fans who have assisted in our plight, whether this is in a monetary, physical or vocal sense. I also appreciate that some STFC fans that don;t want the club to survive, I just hope that you would not do this so voiciferously! It is up to each individual what they want to do, and we must respect that. Unfortunately, due to those never-ending work commitments, I shall not be at the game tonight (Although I shall be donating ticket money etc.), which is a shame as I would have liked to meet a few of the friends that I have made on here over the months. Once again thanks for all you assistance in our hour of need. PS Duncan - i am sorry you have lost money in all of these shananigans. However it was nice to see that your wife's thong was nice and bright on Saturday Morning as she put her bags into your car outside Joshua's!

Mr Nelson Squire, firstly good to see you back. Secondly, if TUFC do go tits up (which I really hope they dont) will the Telford fans then start blaming Mr A Shaw for the clubs plight?
Its like Question Time ;D

It is up to each individual what they want to do, and we must respect that. It's not a case of not wanting your club to survive, it's a case of wanting to see it exist within it's means, rather than living a pipe dream fuelled by a string of sugar daddies. If you can't survive on the support of your own fans, then you're obviously spending too much. Relying on one fan (who only came to you because Hednesford weren't interested,) was a huge gamble, and is hasn't paid off. Good luck for surviving the rest of this season, and hopefully the next one you and the rest of your club's support can get off that flaming cloud and back to a level at which you belong.

JP, apologies, but part of this has been copied from a post I just made on Buckschat: Whist I think AS may not have acted responsibly, indeed, far from it, I would never criticise him for chasing the dream. I would criticise the people and fans in telford for taking this for granted. If all the fans hadl done 10 - 20% of what we have done in the last 5 days, ovwer the past few years, we may not be in this position now. It is simple, we all turned up every week and thought that was enough, we everything for granted. I hope we learn from these harsh, harsh lessons we have been taught! Hope that answers your question, Mr Paxman! (or is it Paxo???)

Sort of ;D
The point is you can lead a horse to water etc etc
Just another one for you: Any idea what Wellington Town's crowds averaged before the name change to Telford United and what did TUFC average there after? Just a point, Ive heard a few older people on Radio Shropshire talk as if they regretted the name change and think that had it been called Wellington the local support maybe higher. You never know.

JP, am I a bit late to all this but is your bloke blowing up Plimmers dog with Bazooka? Bit harsh that our kid SNFC, I'm not going out of my way to help TUFC because I don't think most Telford fans would not do the same back, but thats a personal opinion. However it's obvious to all that you girls and guys are going through the motions and unlike most teams that are administration, your fanbase is unlikely to get you out of this mess. Yet, when (not if) the derby day comes around and your buckets are out in force then I have no quarms about putting a few quid in because you guys that post on here seem a pretty good bunch really. That Scam thing is awful btw, some people have no morals eh?

JP asked
"Any idea what Wellington Town's crowds averaged before the name change to Telford United and what did TUFC average there after?"
not much better than that of today average 1800+, i can recall 4000+ for boxing day games against Worcester city, some games would be 2500, 3000 depending on who they played, the season before the name change it was anywhere between 1000 and 1500, with the odd high gate for boxingday/bank holidays, where as in the 40, 50's it was averaging 3500+, with biggish gates upwards of 8000+, wellington was a small town in those days mind
I can also recall games at the meadow in those times, and only in the last 15 years or so, 10,000, 15000 + and you have not changed your name yet the fall in attendences is huge.

We're stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one.
A lot of the older folk are no unfortunately no longer with us (My dad for example would have supported Wellington Town, but would not even acknowledge that the Town of Telford existed. He maintained up to his death that his postal address, was Madeley, Shropshire)
If we were to do this, we would then risk driving away any fans who could make an association to Telford as a town, as well as potentially losing some sponsorship on identity grounds.
The best way forward, IMO, is to try to build the fan base as our existing identity and with people living in Telford now. Maybe if we had worked harder at this side of our marketing since 1983 - 1985, we would have grown thefanbase to where it should be.
For the record, I would be happy with an average attendance between 2,200 and 2,700 within the next 5-7 years. To expect anything else is sheer folly.
