Lets face it this is terrible news for Shropshire football.
Late 80s: Div 2 football (when it meant something) in the county town, Gola league football and FA trophy wins in the 'new' town, Beazer Midlands League (the old Southern league) level football in another small town.
Now - 1 Conference side not in the play offs, 1 Conference side on the verge of being wound up, the next highest level of football is TNS in the Welsh Premier.
If as fans of the mighty Shrewsbury we don't see the bigger picture here, then we'll be followignt the Telford into oblivion in ten years time. Then all we'll be reading about in the Shropshire Star sports section is bloody bowls and angling. (Not that I mind either as a past-time, but they aren't spectator sports).
I have to say I don't hate Telford enough to see them go extinct. What do other Town fans think?

Wrexham yes !!!!! Telford no ! Is it a salopian thing, an English thing, or simply that their fans have proved to me at least via this board over the last six months that they are a great bunch of people. (VV apart i never got sensible two way dialogue with any Wrexham fans). From shared banter the hurt they must have been through in the last 48 hours is tangible. I hope they win every game for the rest of the season except the right arse kickin they are going to get on 6/4/04

Good points Slim.
Town's future may be eased...New Meadow...brighter future
Telford's Future is getting more people in, but its the whole of Shropshire that has these Premiership loving fans, who never ever go to a Prem game but think they support them by sittin in their living room or down the local watching a live game with their Prem shirt thinking their the big fan!...w****rs! If only half of these people woke up to the fact that they local football sides not only Town and Telford will be better off, but Ludlow,Shifnal,Bridgnorth and TNS will all benefit.

Also Ludlow and Shifnal have cracking little grounds for the level theyre playing at, would like to see another Shropshire side surge up the feeder leagues in the near future, I know Ludlow want to aim for the Conference, might take a few years yet I guess......
I wont really class TNS as a Shropshire side until they move to Oswestry.
