..... Wrong, But didn't Jimmy Q once say that he doesn't bollock his players but instead sits down and tries to be constructive?
Well do you think this might be one of his worst failings? Surely a lot of the under achieving lazy sods need a kick up the back side to motivate them.
What do you think?

A bit of both, but there's only so long before you can say "has it still not sunk in?"

Ive said this before, and it hasn't really changed.
As a manager myself, I am set reasonable realistic targets annually. If I dont acheive them, I am accountable. That is regardless of how well my team performs, if they have a bad year, Im in the pooh. It is one of my responsiblilties to utilise my available resources to maximum effect.
This year has been particularly bad, with various rumours knocking about regarding the state of the company I work for. Notwithstanding this situation, my targets haven't changed, but the morale of my team has.
I see the situation as being not a great deal different than the one at STFC, and, as the team has underperformed, the only person accountable is Jimmy Quinn. he has to answer for the fact we are not runninbg away with this league. We have the squad and capabilities to do so, so it is my opinion that something deeper is at large here.
JQ has to go, make way for someone who can motivate and improve the "ambience" within the club.
Dunno who that is though, and Im not availabale, Im hitting my targets.

but what were the towns targets ?
did we really expect more than a 3000 ave gate and to reach the play offs at the beginning of the season ?

There was a poll I think on where WE the fans expected to finish. Playoffs won hands down, with 'top half' next highest and Champions 3rd.
Whether our expectations matched those of the board is a completely different matter...

As far as I am aware, JQ's targets have never been in the public domain, but, I fear if he was asked to make the play-offs, and average more than 3,000 per home game, they would have been realistic and acheivable.
But we are all still disappointed.

As far as im concerned Jimmy Quinn has failed, we have only played just over 3/4 of the season and already we are out of the title race and may struggle to get in the play-offs unless a drastic improvement in seen.
At the very least we should have been taking the title race down to the last 2 or 3 games and only then be happy with a play-off place in the final few games.
