Is that a sarcastic post Ant? Just wondered if it was in response of the FAO posts

it's just 4 of the top 6 threads on the board are FAO messages, to me that clutters up the board a bit and such messages could be set via Private Messages. Just my opinion like.

Ant,
I think what you really need is a pop up if there's any new messages. One line at the top of the page isn't that noticable.

Ant , I've just used the Private Message facility as well as a FAO on the message board. What I use each facility for depends on the content e.g if strictly private and of no potential interest to anyone else then the PM ,if not then the main Board. Sometimes like today I just fail to remember the PM facility exists !

Yep always look in outbox to see if they're read. Not sure why, but most are not opened

You don't increase your standing in the EPL with private messages........ ;D

For time sensitive information posting on the main board is perhaps the only sure way that the message will get read. I take it thats a slap on the wrist from you then Ant?

I usually use FAO for a female pic, but I use PM's quite a bit

I use PMs a lot and I think they are absolutely brilliant
a massive bonus on what the rivals board could offer
many a car trip / meeting in the pub / telling someone something private has been done using the PMs
FAO threads are fine on the main boards if you actually want everyone else to look at it, like the babe of the day or something taking the mick out of another user

when JP sends me an email he includes the acknowledgement that it has been recieved if i haven't replied within 6 seconds he sends me a PM he gives me 8 seconds to answer that or else a FAO Pilch goes on the main board 10 seconds after that i get a text message if i ignore that the phone rings and after a total of 45 seconds after the first email, if he still hasn't heard from me he's knocking at the door

It does get annoying when the majority of messages are FAOs. If I need to contact someone I use the PM service.

Real issue is how many FAO messages are intended to be just for that person. If I do a FAO (and I do quite a few) they are usually to wind someone up, but I also want other people to be in on the majority of them, and their joining in the P*ss take is always welcome ! But I have seen some "how are you mate" down as FAOs which would be better sent as PMs.

Who cares? If it says FAO it is probably for that person!! And if its not for you its wasted what? 5 seconds of your life looking at it!! I don't think anyones time is that precious is it?
