a chap offered odds of 999-1 during a race on a horse which was currently 4th £137 was staked and the horse won so instead of being £137 up the wannabe bookie was £136,863 down ratsghost & kickin did you spot it ? someone had £100 and won £100K

I don't understand. You say a chap offered odds, but you mentioned Betfair. I'm confused.

Spoted it Pilch. Guy very unlucky, he bet on a horse literally 30 yards clear with 100 yards to go (yes you can bet that late in a race if you have broadband). The horse was absolutely shagged and crawled the last 100 yards and got beaten a nose. For the bet to have been accepted he must have had 137k on temporary deposit with Betfair so that rules out me. Dunno about Kickin though

Just to clarify the above (as I had two "what are you on about" Msn's), the bloke thought the leader was home and dry so he offered 200/1 the horse in second 300/1 the horse in 3rd and 999/1 the horse in fourth (which won). So he did not "bet on the winner" but he bet against anything else winning. I stand partly corrected TonyC
