Hawkstone? It only looks recognisable because I put my approach shot to the 18th on the top of that building last summer

Its incredible to think that building was very close or even where meole Island is. If you look at the left hand side of the building you can see Moneybrook Way Flats. I was born and bred on Meole Estate and I can remember the Island being build, but for some strange reason I can't remember the Club house. (thats because im probaly senile)

The Meole Island was built about the same time we first got 50p pieces. We use to call the Meole Island the 50p island.

Thanks for posting that pilch,it brings back many memories as i too grew up on Meole Estate. The first Tee is to the left of the photo, players drove off from there up towards the railway line, me and some like minded mates used to wait in the hedgerow and nick the balls before the golfers came into view and then attempt to sell them to others on the course.(ironic really as i'm now a member of this courses successor at Condover) Also the club house was a fantstic den for the little Meole gang after it closed down, it wasn't demolished immediately ,lots of smoking and drinking and also my first fumbling attempts with members of the opposite sex.
HAPPY DAYS.
