They may not be hooligans, but they chose a bad name.
I could start a new group and call myself the "Blue and Amber Italian Fascist Thugs" but it would not make me one. But it could be open to misinterpretation.
The issue is that it would be open to the same misinterpretation of the term as the word "ultra".
It is not an attack on the idea, the party atmosphere, drummer, you go for it. I just don't want you to fall on your butt cos of the name. The papers could have a field day.
Keep squeaky clean IMO - then everything about you is considered good. Rather than having to explain "Oh yes, they are the Shrewsbury Ultras. But it is ok because they're not real Ultras."

I thing you have the wrong idea, your taking about general football in Italy and the politics, every Italian club is involved be it Right wing or left wing ultras, must ultras groups are behind there team. The thug side of things is a general Italian thing. Check out all the ultra groups in this country there is quite a lot of them and none of them are hooligans. Accrington York Peterborough Aldershot Dundee St Mirren Aberdeen motherwell to name but a few Even in Canada Toronto F.C. Most Ultra groups are diue hard fans who bring colour to the game and thats what we shall do.

York call themselves Jorvik Reds!
St Mirren calls themselves Supras!
You just don't get it do you?
Put the term "Ultras Football" into Google news and run a search. Look at the first hundred responses and tell me how many relate to football violence.
None of them talk about St Mirren or Accrington...

One of the latest stories involving Ultras. Not Italian, Spanish. Just four days ago chaps. www.theherald.co.uk/news/news/display.var.1873787.0.0.phpWhat if we play Aberdeen pre season and you rock up with your big Ultras flag? It just isn't worth it. The term "ultras" is damaged goods. I want you to succeed, which is why I don't think you should do anything which might hamper you.
