South Stand Barmy Army for now.
Obviously a couple of us could see the implications of having the ultras as a name and we have regualry sang south stand barmy army.
Sorry for any offence our previous name caused, but those who know us, knew it was just supposed to be harmless fun.
Hopefully more people will now perhaps give it a go with us, no problem if not.
Russ.

Barmy- adj (barmier, barmiest) colloq crazy; mentally unsound. I think I'd rather be a racialist... What was wrong with Loggerheads? You could have far more fun with that, and every team has a "Barmy Army" ;D

Army is a bit aggressive. And do you think that the word `stand` might encourage supporters to ignore stadium regulations regarding safety.

In all honesty and even our limited intellect lefties must agree it is good news to hear you have changed the groups name. "Ultras" was far to similar to "Sulkers" and thats our turf ! Seriously as I said the other week, Ultras could and probably would have been interpreted in negative ways by others.

Call yourselves what you like I can see that SSBA sounds more like the kind of guys you seem to be. Ultras might have attracted the wrong sort of attention/ put off some potential members. I think you made a difference on Saturday and that by letting everyone else know they are welcome to join you it could develop into something fantastic. Keep it up, whatever happens on the pitch notworthy

I cant understand why they even need a name. As far as I can tell its a group of mates who are going to football match's and want to make some noise, its hardly a new thing. Im not knocking them as anything that improves the atmosphere is a good thing. I just dont seem to understand why they even need to call themselves anything Personally I just find the whole thing a bit cringeworthy, as someone else pointed out somewhere most people laughed at the thought of the Stanley Ultra's and the Shrewsbury Ultra's to me is just as bad. Im guessing (hoping) that its mostly Good luck to them on improving the atmosphere in the South Stand, I'll stick to the West Stand and try and create an atmosphere over there. Now what to call ourselves ;D

:-XOh deary, deary me, this is just plain silly, why do you need a name? It gets more and more Enid Blyton by the post. Just sit together and sing. The famous five go to football. "Lashings of ginger beer" and all. ;D

The 4 main points of an ULTRA
1. never stop singing or chanting during a match, no matter what the result 2. never sit down during a match 3. attend as many games as possible (home and away), regardless of cost or distance 4. loyalty to the stand in which the group is located (also known as the Curva or Kop).
If your refering to violent acts by ultras you have to look at the era of when these occured, ultras are not hooligan firms - fact.
There is nothing wrong with us being called the ultras.
