Some might miss the link in the other thread.
On it's own it nails it home.

I don't know what all the fuss is about, just because they have picked this name to call themselves douse not suggest they are any of the above. There seem to be people who only want to give them a hard time, why, jealousy, they are actually doing something a little different, coming up with new stuff and starting to get noticed. Good on them, I'm sick of listening to the boring 3 or 4 songs our fans have been singing for the last 20 odd years at least, compared to that they are a breath of fresh air. Up to now I have seen them at home and away, a bunch of them were on our coach to Walsall and I have to say they were all a very well behaved bunch. To post pictures and comments like this just because of a name they chose, truth be known they probably just liked it and didn't really know what it stood for, just goes to show how jealous and spiteful people can get when they think someone is taking a little of the limelight. All I have to say to the Ultra's is, keep it up, your doing a great job notworthy notworthy

I think you will find one person made a silly comment.
Everyone else is broadly in support of what they are doing.
And msot of the comments regarding the name refer entirely to wanting this project to SUCCEED rather than to criticise it. So no, it is not jealousy, it is support.
They are a well behaved bunch, and should have credit for being so, without the negative connotations of a name.
So all in all - life is good.

Was just referring to the definition of an ultra, you know those special sort of people on the continent who attend football matches, to throw fireworks, set things on fire, vandalise, fight, intimidate, racially abuse and make far right political statements. Yes lovely people

Yes lovely people Ah yes, I remember the last time I went to Accrington. Fireworks everywhere, Mother in law on fire and Nazi's had taken over the tannoy system. Those barstewards!

A nice quote from the Wikipedia site, if you bothered to read that far down:
"Unlike hooligan firms, whose main aim is to fight fans of other clubs, the main focus of ultras is to support their own team."
Sums up our intentions perfectly!

That second picture down looks worryingly like a mob marching down Otley Rd. There surely not our angelic ultras are they? Maybe the EBF have met there match.

yes they also storm training grounds, racially abuse opposition players as well as their own, threaten and intimidate under performing players, wreck stadia and hold clubs to ransom over tickets, access and merchandise (they receive large swathes of free tickets to games) as well as dishing out death threats.
yes great supporters...

people are taking it too seriously, and its being blown out of all proportion, they just want to improve things at the stadium, it doesn't need to have all the pictures of hooligan fans

In Italy ultras can either be left wing, right wing or just fanatical about there club it depends on the club politacally. Things are different in this country football clubs don't represent political or religious views apart from rangers and celtic. Remember ULTRAS ARE NOT HOOLIGANS and their is nothing wrong with the name ultras.
1. never stop singing or chanting during a match, no matter what the result 2. never sit down during a match (well we styand up as much as we can) 3. attend as many games as possible (home and away), regardless of cost or distance (this we do) 4. loyalty to the stand in which the group is located (also known as the Curva or Kop).

I think some people are taking this too seriously. Good point. People are taking this to seriously. When we played Accrington and you saw a few of there fans with a big banner saying the Ultras, did you really think oh no there all hooligans and there going to wreck the stadium and have fights out side.

No, but we did think "what a silly name, why have perfectly normal fans done that"

Sounds just like "Reclaim the Kop" No-one doubts what you're trying to do is good. But why pick a name which is inextricably linked with groups of people totally different to you. You're a good bunch of lads trying to have a laugh and do something positive, go for it. But don't name it after these people: "Three Middlesbrough fans were stabbed and 10 others hurt during Uefa cup quarter finals in 2006, while in April dozens of Manchester United fans were injured, 11 sustaining stab wounds at the hands of Ultras fans, and others from being baton-charged by the carabinieri."
