Brummieboy makes some good points.
However, what is missing is the fact that in actual fact, so many MP's changed their minds despite very little policy shift by the Labour leadership.
And the fact that it was in the manifesto that Labour got elected on in 2001.
"WE WILL NOT INTRODUCE TOP UP FEES AND WILL LEGISLATE TO PREVENT THEM"
Said Tony Blair.
LYING !

There's something in that, fair play. Just what were the major concessions that Nick Brown was on about ... ?!

Tony Blair's justification for it is that the policy will not become effective until after the next election and hence he isn't breaking any promises... if Labour don't win the next election the plans don't go through. I can't quite see you buying that excuse though Gaz

Not really Ant! Surprisingly enough, I actually have a lot of time and admiration for Blair, I was pro-war, and would rather have him than MH or Ck in charge of my country, despite never voting Labour in my life. But he has has a 'Gregor' of a year, and some of the stuff eminating from his government at present has left me utterly disillusioned, but still morbidly fascinated, with the state of British Politics.

Great post welshshrew! I'm scared by how much I have agreed with you on here!
A manifesto pledge was made and it makes not jot off a difference when it will be brought in, by passing the bill in this parliament he has broken that pledge.
