Its amazing how popular this board is getting. In the last week i've had half a dozen references made from various people. And in the pub on Friday, two prints were doing the rounds... one of the 'Double Entendres' i posted and one of the 'Signs of the World posted by ShrewsandRoyals. Who's gonna own up to emailing them And which user works at BT ??

the scary thing is there are loads and loads of people who just read the board but don't post anything
people say "oh i know you off B&A" and i'm like "what username are you" and they say "oh I never post on there, just read it"
Spooky!

Spot on TBH, the vast majority of people who use B&A will read the board but never post on it.

Yeah, i know a few that just view the board. Be interesting to find out just how many do view the board, i guess thats the purpose of Pilch's addition of the counter.

another interesting point is how deeply unpopular B&A is with some fans and even some fans groups
I have heard some way harsh things said about us, nothing specific as such, but just the sort of
"problem with B&A is that they thinkt he whole world revolves around them"
or "Bunch of whingers" sorts of comments

But the World does revolve around us In all seriousness I can appreciate where they are coming from with such comments. While it is very popular and there are a lot of fans who use the site/ board it is by no means the guide for what the whole of the STFC supporters fan-base thinks. For every Town fan there is who uses the board I bet there are several who don't.

A lot don't post as they feel they will just be "shouted down" if their opinion doesn't match the views of a few that post on here. I won't mention the names they highlighted. People have said if they agree with something I have said or if a response has been totally over the top and unfair given their views/experience of things. Are you reading this Dave? Get on with your work!

I think that's a valid thought too S&R, in hind sightmany of us (myself included) have over-reacted to posts and it probably has put others off sharing their views.

It is true, I can see why people would feel a little bit excluded as well because many people on here know each other
B&A has strong input from ASFC and ALS, as well as it's own editorial comment, while Ianwhit and sometimes Judy also give us an opportunity to interact with the club
if I was new I may think B&A was a real clique
what they don't know is that I have only been using this site for less than a year
the fact is I have made many new friends since I moved back to shrewsbruy and about 80% of them are via B&A, so I do feel quite a strong sense of loyalty and also, it proves that this isn't a clique where new people aren't accepted, me being the prime example!

I think it takes time to build up the confidence to reply to poll as daft as it may sound. A friend of mine reads the board (Alright Si!) but hasn't passed comment yet as said "They know what there talking about on there and I don't want to post anything stupid"
I suppose it's true as there are a lot of knowledgable people on here, but in general, I think were pretty good to new users.

There are many clever and funny posters on this board so it's understandable that some people may find it intimidating. As for being 'shouted down', the fiercest arguments are between people who know each other and new comers are treated gently (unless they are deliberately trying to wind us up) It's true that the board is dominated by a few 'Legends', but don't worry about them. Just think of them as geeks who need to get out more When I started posting I didn't know anyone, now I probably know about 20 of the regulars, some of them well enough to have a drink with. So if you have something to say, post it. 'Publish and be damned' as the Duke of Wellington said.

I can remember the first post I saw was about Darren Currie Drug problem/dealer. I thought what a load of bozos.
Read it for years and never posted then something annoyed me and I thought cannot let that go.
The rest they say is downhill.
Had some great days with B&A folks, Golf, Quizzies and away games.
The only bad thing really is getting to know JP what a Prat ;D

Don't forget that STFC can occasionally gain new supporters BECAUSE of B&A. It worked that way with me. I couldn't have any sort of hobby for years (working through the worst of the (Tory, at the time) educational reforms- they made sure we had no free time- plus home and family to run. Then my mother needed a lot of looking after. (I'm not whinging, honest- it's just facts!) Decided to follow my heart and be a Shrews fan. (my father was a nominal one. I've always had a soft spot for Shrewsbury.) Got "on line"- joined B&A. THEN I became a proper supporter- and hopefully bringing 2 more of my family (grandchildren) up properly- to be supporters. I know I do need to get a life!! But Mr Wiggy doesn't like going out as much since he's been ill. It's been a new lease of life for me. How sad is that, folks? Hope it isn't seen as a clique though- we must be welcoming to newcomers and show we value their input. I was a newcomer and a stranger and I was made welcome!!

I haven't explained that well- what I meant was that, after being on B&A, I actually went all out to get to a few matches, although it's not easy.
I wanted to be a REAL fan- not just a "plastic" one! It was going on B&A (and Shrewsweb, before that) that gave me that extra push.
If it worked for me, it could work that way for someone else, couldn't it?
