The Shropshire Association of Parish And Town Councils should have (unbiased) literature on this. If you ring 01743 251000 after 9am on tuesday and ask for SAPTC they should be able to forward you literature on local villages.

Easily Church Stretton or surrounding villages - although it is a little over your max distance by a couple of miles.
Excellant schools, shops, transport links and has some of the best scenery in shropshire.

Always found Hadnall a nice place to live Cannot argue with that as I was domiciled there myself for over 20 years before moving 3 years ago to well here. Agree with Kickin on Church Stretton but the property is a little more expensive down that way, mind you if this chap is coming from down south and is selling a property money will be no problem I suppose I ought to put the case for Harmer Hill. When we moved a good Bus service was vital for the kids and the 501 does the job very well. Two contrasting pubs in the village, nice little shop/PO, great paper man. 10 mins to the P&R, Supermarkets and DIYs ect. Loads of Town fans in the village, some better than others, thats you Afro On the whole I would say its a great place to live.

Pontesbury Iv'e never lived there, but I do play darts in their league and I have found everyone very freindly. It has 4 Pubs, Indian , Chinese and a chip shop. Petrol Station (a little pricey) and it 8 miles from Shrewsbury. Most important it as its own senior school too!! so no taking elder kids o long distances to school

Pontesbury's quite a big village too, and certainly having the school close is a big plus.
It's not the best school in the World but it's not the worst either.

If you have twins in your family, don't send them to the senior school, they turn twins into morons

Been around the Montford Bridge area for over a year and don't think much of the locals Pontesbury area is fantastic and I would love to move over there at some point. The only problem is people moving up from the south have used their equity to grossly inflate property prices and squeeze local folk out of the market........................................

I would tend to agree with the general consensus on here, Pontesbury is a nice village, and the locals are very friendly. But i don't know what the links are like to get into Shrewsbury. Baschurch isn't a bad placeeither, it's got three pubs, primary and secondary school, playing field for the kids, two shops and a garage.

Garmston, Eaton Constantine or Cressage?
Close enough to both Shrewws and Telford, but a lovely rural location!

Shropshire is God's county obviously.
But I would tend to look in the area between the two spurs of the A458.

Check out the Longden Road out of Shrewsbury. It's got good little villages all along it such as Annscroft, Hookagate and Longden itself, any of them would be pleasent places to live. Avoid the Radbrook Green area, there's some very unsavoury characters livng there.

Much Wenlock is pricey (as in expensive not centre forward for ASFC ) but as villages go, it's got everything you want. Two excellent schools, it's central to Shrewsbury, Telford and Bridgnorth, it's of a reasonable size and it's got alot of character compared to some villages. Church Stretton (El Baco!) is very good aswell but a bit out in the sticks. Cressage like Much Wenlock is central to most places but the primary school apparantly is very good.

I dont live in a village myself but Cressage would seem the ideal choice to me as its quite centrally located in the county and is no more than 20 mins drive away from either Shrews, Telford or Bridgnorth. Nearest secondary school to Cressage is William Brookes in Much Wenlock which I think is quite good (it is compared to most Telford schools anyway)
