Kickin The people who attend meetings do not always know as much as you do, why not enlighten them - this may resolve the problem one and for all. Do the council have the right to by the land without dispute - if they put an offer in can STFC refuse it? Where do the club legally stand if this happens? Kickin can you answer the above, especially the last two Cheers

Because the offer can still be made before any meetings have taken place - Its called taking the initiative, if as a lobby group ie... the umbrella group we take these things by the scruff of the neck on organise meetings then our views will be listened to much more as it shows a certain amount of power, letting others dictate the caurse of the journey means we are always on the defensive.
Bloody hell , we have some right articulate people on this board, lets get organised and start leading instead of being led down the garden path all the bloody time.

1. Because i dont agree that this platform whereby the only people present are the Labour group is the right place to air this debate, we need imput from all sides and we need the Umbrella group to organise it.
2. I would think they can refuse to sell the land otherwise they would have done this by now, the fact that they have a higher offer from a private developer for the land would probably mean that the council canmnot do a compulsary purchase on us.
3. Its not going to happen,

a sub £9 million offer is not going to build us a new stadium, its very simple maths. Not sure that's the case Kickin, if I remember correctly the cost of building the New Meadow is around £8million and there are the Football Trust Grants to top up the money received from the sale of the Gay Meadow

If it wasnt the case PPP we would accept the offer and everyone would be happy.

Not necessarily, perhaps the club think they can make a few quid out of the deal?
There are no indications that the New Meadow cannot be fully funded by a sum of £9million

£8 miliion for a new ground
£x million for the land
£x million for the infrastructure originally being provided by SABC
£x amount of interest on the original costiings
Sub £9 million just isnt enough.

Your figures bear no resemblence to the original figures quoted, even after inflation £9million plus grants is enough

What are these figures please PPP
Im sure that many on here need reminding what they were...

The project was stated as costing £10million, presumably including all the associated costs such as land purchases as it wasn't specified as being an additional cost at the time
Football Trust grants cover a signficant proportion of the cost of building a new all-seater stadium, probably at least 50%, leaving the remainder to be paid for by the sale of Gay Meadow

Ok PPP so no hard numbers...
I would guess that a sub £9 million deal would not suffice to fund the New Meadow project, if it was enough then the club would go ahead with it.
You state it is 10 million so we are already £1 million + under what we need, we also have to allow for inflation and also infrastructure which is at least 2 million as SABC were going to pay for this work originally, on this basis how can you say a sub £9 million deal will fund the stadium?

You state it is 10 million so we are already £1 million + under what we need No, £9million for Gay Meadow plus significant football trust grants = way over £10million

So why has the deal not gone ahead PPP... ??

Maybe because the Council has never had the chance to vote on a £9million proposal, only a £14million proposal?
As i've said, going by the figures originally quoted for the cost of the New Meadow project and based on my knowledge of the kind of football trust grants that are available, this would finance the project
