Ant, didnt you post in the last week something along the lines of: perhaps we've been too hard on new posters and shouted them down when they expressed an opinion? not sure of the wording and i cant be arsed to look for it, but sometimes the opinions of people not known as B&A regulars are dismissed straight away. Yep I did say that. But what you have to remember is that everyone who is viewed as being an 'insider' began as those perceived to be 'outsiders' - if you catch my drift. Yes some people do get criticised, of that their can be doubt but it also worth noticing that there have been several 'regulars' whose posts are hottly contested - just look at the education top up fees debate for a perfect example. I can not talk with more passion about this board and the community it has created. The people I have met from this board, the different characters, their different ages and backgrounds - to be quite honest it's absolutely awesome and I'm proud to be part of it. It's worth noting that a lot of the people who have become very involved/ regular posters on here have done so only within the last 6 - 12 months. A clique? No way.

Thing is Ant it can be a bit "cliquie" and it puts a lot of people off. Also people, like me, find it hard to communicate on these things, would much rather sit in the boozer and chew the fat. Mind you kids like Afro wouldn't be aloud in the pub ;D ;D ;D I bet he's a layabout ;D

Agreed with Ant, I was one of the first B&A users I believe, back then there used to be loads of posters that many of the people on here won't even recognise, Tricky_Micky, Welshcliffe, Ty...way before the days of PILCH, PPP or TBH, all of whom now are considered 'veterans' of the board. When the latter 3 started posting I don't remember them having trouble, I don't believe they had met many of the posters that were already registered but they got involved and look now, they are 3 of the first names that spring to mind when you think of B&A users, whilst long serving users such as myself or mysticmurray would probably not get a mention, it's not clique at all, just because someone has been here longer than someone else doesn't make their opinion any less valid, and nothing I've read proves me wrong.

Harmerhill Shrew is the perfect example. I didn't meet him until the B&A Golf Day back in June/ July but now I'd consider him to be an extremely good mate, as I do with so many other people who have joined up on B&A. People do have their opinions shouted down but I don't feel it is an awful lot different if they were a regular or a newbie. I've made stupid comments on here before and rightly so had people who have disagreed with me tell me. I understand some will be put off by it but I hope it's the minority as apposed to the majority.

I think there was a thread on here a week or so back about people who view the board and don't post 'cos they would feel intimidated. I personally know 3 people who view but never post.

my first post on B&A was a reply to a question about ratcliffe he enquired if it was true about him being found guilty for being racist towards a player (it was) a few regular users dismissed it as all in the past so i argued with them for days just for the hell of it we would still have been arguing now if scooter hadn't posted telling them i was just winding them up everyone has the right to post their own opinion and if they don't agree with the replies they once again have the right to put another point forward and so on

It will always be the case with 'net messageboards that the vast majority read but post rarely. My mum is a perfect example, she loves reading the board but rarely posts.

Click on the 'quote' tab, it's in the top right hand corner of the person's post you are replying to.
