KevinRatcliffe, and now Jimmy Quinn have criticised the Meadow pitch. Are the problems purely down to the location,or do we have a poor groundsman? I notice when attending away games that the groundsmen seem to take a lot of care at half-time with special forks to replce the divots. All Brian Perry does is to scrape the displaced clump of grass back into place with the toe-end of his boot and squash it back with a circular motion (as if stubbing out a cigarette) quite often causing that area to end up a a patch of mud. Perhaps he's fighting a losing battle - he may be a genius for all I know, but he doesn't seem to take the care that opposing groundsmen take. Your opinions would be appreciated

What does he have to work with?
Last time I saw, he had to borrow a tractor off one of his mates, and even then it was an ancient one.

He might have not the 'hi-tech' equipment that his Telford counterpart has, but does it really matter? ;D I also think he does a fantastic job, and think about the hours he puts in during the week to get the game on, if you ever see the GM floodlights switched on at around 11pm on a weekday evening, you know BP and his staff are hard at work

Hasn't Brian Perry been off lately, due to a family illness. I'm sure someone told me that.
Is that why they are asking for help on Saturday ?

I guess the problems at the Meadow are caused by the river, but not by flooding.
Being next to the river will result in a high water table, roots need oxygen to grow, so the Gay Meadow grass could be shallow rooted which will cause it to cut up easily.
On replacing divots at half time, I always thought that this is a cosmetic exercise - the grass is not going to re-grow and bind with the soil in 15 minutes!f

our pitch is only ever unplayable when it is under water or frozen solid
i think he does and excellent job
Chelsea had problems, the millenium stadium had problems, Telford are having problems
we need to be grateful for what we have

he does a great job, as said only games that are under water or frozen are called off, unless its very foggy in which case he would'nt be to blame !!
Tefshrews how do you know Telfords "Hi Tech equipment" is on hire?

Telford borrow hi-tech equipment from Wolves
10-15 years ago our pitch was on an equal par with most clubs, as was our stadium.
Buy a new player or spend £100,000 on a new pitch and indeed spend £250,000 on new lights or put the cash into the squad..?
We will have a fine pitch when we have a new stadium.
Telfords drainage is 'not working properly' and at Chelsea the large stands block the sun reaching the grass. We only have problems when it rains.
Brian is doing a good job under the circumstances.
