Just wait until MartinB gets online - they're not a particularly popular club if what I gather is to be believed.

Just wait until MartinB gets online - they're not a particularly popular club if what I gather is to be believed. To right they are not my favourrite club. The ban for the website editors was put in place two weeks after Canvey launched their official website. Absolute disgrace in my opnion. If any one asks what's wrong with Canvey, I would ask what is right?

You would think so, when you are trying to get the Islanders to cross the water to get a job

Only if you beat Telford.
Nothing wrong with Canvey.
Telford have had the sulks ever since we beat them in the same Comp a few seasons ago, I suppose they will be desperate to get their own back should they beat you.
Looking forward to either one of you!! Roll on the 27th.

Oh BTW, Canvey is a real Island, should you win through make sure you have a good set of waders(chest high is best), they will help when crossing the Creek, they come in handy keeping the Marsh Rats of yer legs too! ;D

If we do beat Telford, some of our lot are in for a shock when they see your ground. They won't believe it when you tell them how much it has improved over the last few years.

Martin B - Have you visited recently then?
The club is about to get a New stadium, with all the trimmings. That will shut a lot club supporters up. I have never seen the point in spending heaps of money on a stadium to standards that are rarely needed until of course a club reaches the height that is required for attendances. BTW, the match report Canvey v Telford has been dug up from archives, a link has been placed on the Canvey forum at NonleagueUK, makes some good reading and highlights how bad the weather had taken its toll on our pitch in those days. http:/forums.nonleague.com

Maidenhead or Farnborough! In all honesty and I hope this doesn,t upset you, but I really don't have a preference. I suppose, that looking at the betting thing, you guys are favs, so the pressure would be off the Gulls. Having said that and at the risk of sounding arrogant and I don't mean to, we do have a quality squad who are playing some really good stuff, I don't think they will be too fussed either. They are a better team now than the one that won the Trophy, but thats my opinion. If you do get through, you will find that there are some really good characters on our forum that will visit you and will like a little banter, again like most clubs there are of course the occasional plonker that likes to stir up trouble(part timers normally). You must visit out forum, we do like visitors, you will get some good chat with the likes of Merv, Matt, YA 2000, and good few others.

Martin B - Have you visited recently then? Went to one of your Trophy games last season, Buckingham? I think. I have seen Canvey play Essex Senior League games. Saw you play at Grays a couple of weeks back.

I went to Canvey when we played them in the Trophy the pitch and stadium are awful, from what i saw from the Town that wasn't up to much either. On the plus side found a decent pub with SKY a decent chip shop that sold battered Mars Bars and very large cod. Its a bloody long way to go and unfortunatly they have a decent side.Overrall i enjoyed the day there mainly due to having a few beers which helped me sleep for the bloody long journey back.

We at Canvey know our ground is not the best but hopefully we will have a new ground in the near future. On the day we played Telford we had heavy rain so the pitch wasn`t the best but usually it`s ok, we try to play on the deck so we want a half decent surface.
Why is the replay not until the 16th, is it police advice?
Whoever we end up playing i`m sure we will give you a good game.

The 16th was an agreed date between the two clubs , as both clubs have a bit of a fixture backlog, Shrewsbury due to there success in cup competitions, and telford down to having a crap pitch with no drainage, but they have a nice hotel

The only thing in our favour is Canvey with try to play football, which makes a change. Lots of Conference sides are only interested in time wasting, even at home after 25 minutes when it's 0-0 If I were you I would want to play Shrewsbury. I would lay you a bet that our attitude will be all wrong. If you do play Shrewsbury I'm having money on Canvey to win
