Mr Wiggy and I were having a bit of a giggle today about a Liverpudlian term for ..erm.... a primitive form of contraception. Typical Scousers refer to it as "gerring off at Edge Hill! " (As in, "I'll be careful- I'll gerroff at Edge Hill!") Edge Hill being the railway station just before Liverpool Lime Street. It got me wondering what the Shrewsbury Equivalent might be. Now, coming from Crewe to Shrewsbury- the last station before Shrewsbury is- Yorton. So a Shrewsbury lad could promise to get off at Yorton, I suppose!!! (What would it be from another direction?!!!) Or- is there a Shropshire term for it? ;)I don't remember hearing any!!

I had many a day working at Yorton station. Once chased some fox hunters off the lines there.

Yorton is a request-only stop, so I guess that means the lady has to ask in advance
