I don't know about Town players etc but I do remember a local council down south pulling off a stunner about 15 years ago!
A councillor was retiring after about 8 million years on the council. As a tribute they said that he could call the next street that came up for naming with anything of his choice, provided it wasn't rude or emotive.
The street that came up was an exclusive development of executive houses, all well over £500k in those days. The developer wanted to call the development "Badger's Copse".
The councillor was a mad keen Tony Hancock fan and actually named the development "Railway Cuttings"!! Superb, the developers went mad, appealed and everything, but I believe it stayed as Railway Cuttings!

What about naming the A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry "The James Hayter Way"
