If you could have any player back in the side from the last 5 yrs (assuming fitness etc.) who would you pick? I'd go for Hughesy - awesome ball winner, tackler and had a hell of a shot too. I'd play him alongside Ridler and push Tinno forward to centre midfield, give him a bit of a "Keano" role. Great shame he had to hang up his boots.

Ohhh good question - I would love Paul Evans back - he was class in the midfield and would bring our the best in Tolley and Edwards.
And unlike (untill recently) he would have a shop from anywhere in the midfield - something we have failed to do consistantley since he left

The last five years haven't been kind to Shrewsbury Town and that makes such a question very difficult to answer...can't recall anyone really outstanding that comes to mind. And with some suggesting Jemmo it really does hit home how bad things have been for us...

Im guessing as jeveesy put a picture of Jemo looking all motivated - that must have been one of the "big games" or one on Tv!!! WE do not miss the bigheaded git - look at the 3 stikers we have this season - all are better - long term players than jemo was - i know you all dissagree though

Darren Currie.
You could then put Aiston on the right, and Darby would have no excuse for not scoring. Also he'd be able to play Luke in behind the back opposition back 4.

I wouldn't say he were class DRAS our kid, he were OK...
I just think it shows how far we have fallen when most suggest that of all the players in the last five years we'd like to bring back we're talking about an over 30's (age, not stone) journey man who is now plying his trade in Ireland. It would be nice to be able to name someone who has left the club for bigger and better things but we simply haven't had that quality in the side (who has gone on to leave) in the last few years.
I honestly can not think of anyone who I would love to see back at Shrewsbury who has donned the blue and amber within the last five years...that's not a happy thought...
Saying that though, me memories not as good as it once was...but since 2000 I can't think of anyone outstanding...

Evo has gone out to forge himself a career of sorts in division 1, as darren Currie has comanded a reasonable fee or two and has gone on to become a recognised high quality lower division player.

I agree...but I thought they left before five years ago? I could be wrong though...when did they leave the club?

I always had a soft spot for Andy Tretton - not sure he'd make it into the team at the mo but he'd be wonderful as cover

I think Evo and Currie are just outside the five year curfew. I fell however the hero of heroes and the God of all Gods, the mighty Throb however may just sneak in

One Austin Berkley................beyond a shadow of a doubt. Failing that, Alex Smith, given the horrendous problems at left back. All four of our strikers at the moment are more useful to the team than Jemson.

Could we have the Luke Rogers back from the previous 2 seasons! ;D
It's far easier to ask who would you NOT have back from the 5 years - I could think of a whole rugby team!
How's about for sentiment Wilding, Brown or Seabury - at least they would give 100%. Tretton would also be up there.

I was going to go for Evo, but if he just misses the five-year limit then he's out.
Probably go for Smith to fit in at left back I suppose.
Definitely wouldn't have Jemmo back - I think the strikers we've got at the club now are all capable of doing a better job than him.

If we have to have a five year limit, it would be Mickey Brown for me - particularly a Mickey 'on fire' and raring to score a goal.
