I am actually struggling to think of a better free kick seen at the meadow. Jemmo's free kick vs Everton was obviously brilliant, and Tommy Lynch could certainly strike the ball, but Sedge has really leathered that and it was right int he top corner No keeper would have had a chance... Have we just witnessed one of the best dead ball strikes by an STFC player?

it was a good kick, but looking at the pic i think a decent keeper may have got to it i saw sedge take one at halifax, it beat carts but just went wide if he doesn't already i would suggest sedge spends extra time after training to perfect his free kicks

i think the photo backs up my point! that is going right in the top corner mate, no keeper would have been able to dive across and get that high! unless of course they'd just stood that side of the goal

Tommy Lynch in injry time vs Hereford - we won 2-0 i think and Im sure he scored vs Preston in the league at the meadow when we beat them 2-1 in 93/94.
Brian Williams also scored similar to Sedge's but with his left foot vs Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup?
Someone tell me Im right and not gong mad?

Cramb's free kick against Cambridge in the pre-season game was probably as good, maybe even better struck than Sedgemore's
Other than that i'm struggling to remember too many free kick goals at the Meadow of that kind
Tony Kelly scored some absolute blinders from those kind of positions, he was a genius at dead ball situations

The win vs Preston was a 1-0 job in 93/94 - sweet revenge for them thrashing us and knocking us out of the cup that season.
Evo scored a free-kick similar to Sedge's in a home league game with Hull - it was in a 2-0 home victory on a Tues night - Kerrigan scored the other in injury time.

Tony Kelly scored some great free kick goals. I also remember Paul Petts beating David Harvey of Leeds with a free kick as part of his "7 minute perfect" hatrick.
(By that I mean right foot, left foot and header.)

Tony Kelly at Brentford (1990) blasted it at the bottom right hand corner. Parks manged to get a hand to it, but "Soupa" John McGinley, following up, slammed it in, only for the ref to order the kick to be re-taken.
Undeterred, Kelly whips into top left (henceforth known as "Sedgie's corner").
